Written for Day 31 of the
31daysoffandom October challenge. The prompt I used was "masks"
Syndi stood in the doorway, wrapped in a pink terrycloth robe, her hair in curlers, her expression annoyed.
"Marshall," she said, and the sickly-sweet tone of her voice presaged horrors to come. "Do you know why my organic, home-made anti-blemish face mask, the one I spent all morning making, is smeared on every lintel in the house?"
"Is that what that was?" said Marshall. "I thought it was some kind of vampire-repelling gunk I made and forgot about."
Syndi made a strangled noise in the back of her throat.
"Look," said her brother, trying for reasonableness. "What's more likely: that I have successfully saved us from the blood-sucking undead using an ancient poultice of garlic and honey, or that a mudpack is actually going to fix that mess you call a face?"
He was off and running before he'd finished the sentence, but Syndi still caught him before he made the safety of his bedroom.
