for christmas, i bought travis a bearded dragon. here he is:
his name is mac, and on monday he died. :(
Travis came home from work to find him drowned in the big water bowl in his tank. He had no idea how long he had been in there, but he was all white and cold and flat and clearly not alive. BUT being the optimist that he is, Travis then tried to give him CPR. He worked on him for 10 minutes or so, until he was positive that Mac was dead. Then he called to tell me.
:( I was in studio and being the emotional little girl that I am, I ended up quite teary. I hung up to go back to class.
20 minutes later, Trav calls again.
"hello?" i answer, still holding back sadness.
"HE's ALIVE!!! HE'S BREATHING! HE WON'T EVEN OPEN HIS EYES, BUT HE'S BREATHING!!!!"
i thought he was messing with me at this point, so i RUN home, and by the time I get there, Mac's eyes are open and he looks, although clearly shaken up, perfectly normal.
you guys, this animal was dead. cold dead. I guess after he called me he went back to work on him and his hand twitched or something....and then he just came back...(well, with more cpr...trav had Mac's whole head in his mouth to guive him cpr)
anyways - point being - in a world that is often pessimistic and sad - every once and awhile you get a reminder that fate isn't always working against us. I can't believe this ended up being a happy story!!
the end. :)
