HRC: Memories Overload

Mar 01, 2010 21:38

I was two years old when I first stepped on the grounds of my Alma Mater, Holy Rosary College, formerly known as Holy Rosary Academy. I was really excited to go to school, even at my very young age. I even told my mother to leave the school before she entered the pre-school building, and I remember the exact words I said, “Ma, alis ka na, magagalit si teacher.” Those were the days.

It was that time when I met my long-time friends, who are still my classmates up to my senior year. It was the time when I constructed myself, when I learned the basics and when I learned to socialize. Before I graduated, I almost got my left eye blinded because of an accident at a line when our teacher was checking our seatwork. I felt very scared.

I graduated salutatorian. I was very happy. The ceremony was a very memorable one. Our graduation song was “If We Hold On Together” by Diana Ross, the theme song for “Land Before Time.” Whenever I hear that song, I remember the early stages of my life.

In 2001, I entered my elementary life. My nervousness was overpowered by my excitement. There were many great memories that I made inside the school. When I was in third grade, I got to experience being the first honor for the first time, so I was treated by my parents in the form of a trip to Hong Kong for five days with my mom and my aunt. It was my first time to ride an airplane. At fourth grade, I slipped at the pathway near the pre-school building and dislocated my left wrist. When my mom saw me, I looked very pale. She asked me if I was hungry or I felt sick, but I could not take the pain anymore and cried so much.

At my last year in elementary, this was the time that I got to go to many places. I went to the City of Pines, Baguio, to attend the Children’s Museum and Library, Inc. (CMLI) 26th Annual National Grade School Convention. I also went to Lucban, Quezon, to compete at the Regional Schools’ Press Conference. I also competed at the Southern Tagalog Calabarzon Athletic Association (STCAA) Meet at Dasmariñas, Cavite. I had a lot of roadtrip.

I graduated salutatorian again and I delivered a welcome speech during the ceremony. I felt overwhelmed when I heard all of the awards I received. It was a dream that came true.

I then entered the high school life. I had to adjust so much because it was totally different from elementary. There were many transfer students, so I had to socialize again, and I enjoyed it. When I was in my second year, I got to join STCAA Meet again, but I had to leave for a month for my in-house training. I missed a lot of lessons, so I decided to quit my playing.

On my third year, we held a Junior-Senior Promenade, or simply called JS prom. I was very surprised that I got an award. That was indeed memorable. This event also made me meet my best friend, Renz Vidal.

Now I am in my senior year. This was the time that I became really close with my classmates: I met my girlfriends, Catherine Gonzalez, Marleanne Malubag and Thea Valle. Our class, IV-Joule, got to go many places. Our class had a very good bonding. Our class became very close to each other.

It is almost time to leave this school. I will always remember the memories that made me a better person.
