Yesterday was a lovely day. Went to breakfast with my mother at Tom's Farms for blueberry pancakes and bacon. They charge $2.50 for a side of bacon and it is a LOT of bacon! After breakfast, we went to the Glen Ivy spa. I got a 60-minute "stress relief" massage, which focuses on the head, neck, shoulders, and the lower legs and feet. Or perhaps the massage therapist did that just for me since I said that I have notoriously tight calves. It was a good massage. To my surprise, my shoulders are a little bit sore this morning. I guess I needed shoulder work more than I thought.
We enjoyed all the facilities at the spa, the Roman bath, the mineral pools, the salt water jacuzzi, and I had a delicious lunch of ahi poke tuna salad and iced tea. After lunch, I talked Ma into enjoying the shallow float pool for the first time. We stayed longer than I initially planned, the hours just flew by. After the spa, we came home and made dinner: whole wheat spaghetti with chicken, artichoke and mozzarella sausage, and garlic-parmesan bread. We had an inexpensive but tasty store-brand merlot from Fresh n' Easy to go with it, and Ma and I collaborated on trying to recreate a summertime dessert my grandmother used to make: Jell-O peach pie. We skipped the graham cracker crust, though, so I guess it was more like Jell-O peach pudding. I found it tasty but not really like my grandmother's. Most likely she tweaked the recipe when she made it, and never wrote down what she did. I am going to keep playing with it, though, because I could have lived on this stuff when I was a kid.
Today is just another relaxing day. I might as well enjoy it since my transfer will be complete by next week and I should be back to work.
