The goose is getting fat ...

Well. The weekend is over, which is almost the best thing I can say about it. All my lack of sleep caught up to me and I slept like a zombie through most of Saturday. No tree was erected this weekend, and the kids about drove us nuts. Then, we had Nora over on Sunday and she only made it worse. Oh, well.

At the end of Sunday evening, Jenn came to pick Nora up right when Jimmy was leaving to take the kids home. I gave Jenn a CD of Christmas music I'd made, and she talked me into coming back to her place. On the drive home, we took some detours to enjoy some of the early Christmas lights in the nearby neighborhoods, listening to the Christmas music all the while. That was very nice. Then, at her place, we made a couple of drinks out of the dregs of the cranberry-gin-and-tonic stuff, and watched the Colbert Christmas show. They had made a gingerbread house over the weekend, and the house smelled delicious. Then she insisted on making me a couple of the potato tacos that she'd had for dinner while we were being eaten out of house and home by the adorable locusts children ... and the tacos, they were DELICIOUS. If it weren't for me having the sleeping sickness and not being able to keep my eyes open after 1 1/2 gin & tonics, I might have been tempted to indulge her willingness to make me as many as I wanted. As it was, I had two.

Well, she inspired me. Today, I made a Thai-style peanut sauce, and I'm having her over for lunch. It's gonna be a cold noodle salad with the peanut sauce, scallions, red and yellow bell pepper and toasted sesame seeds. I will probably shred a bit of the leftover turkey to put in mine. If only I had a nice, bright, fuity white wine to serve with it ...
