Buttscratcher! Buttscratcher! Buttscratcher? Buttscratcher ...

My mom and Gramps came up to Temecula today. We took Gramps to the nail salon. He and I had mani/pedis, and Ma had her first ever professional manicure. At the age of 57. I mean wow. I felt proud of her, because she always talks about how people catch fungal diseases at those places, and here she finally threw caution to the wind and tried it. I actually choked up a little at the idea of her finally treating herself a little bit.

Then, Gramps took us all out to lunch at Black Angus. I had prime rib. I was beginning to feel quite spoiled.

Then, Ma talked me into joining them for a movie. We saw Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day, which had Frances McDormand and Amy Adams. The ads made it look like a comic farce, and it was in places, but there was some depth to the characters. I can see why the actors took those parts; there was some rather subtle acting in the film. And let me just take a moment to praise Frances McDormand - many women do not want to play the unglamorous parts she's played, but she's played some wonderful characters and I am pleased she has the guts to do it.

Now I'm doing laundry, (while Jimmy watches Family Guy reruns). Need clean uniforms for tomorrow. It's my last day on the day shift, then I'll go back to graveyard starting Friday night. I'm working Saturday, too, to cover for another co-worker. That will make a nice addition to that paycheck. Also, an online resource I found indicates that I should be getting my rebate check on May 16th. The challenge will be hanging onto it until it's time to move.

This was a very active couple of days for me. I'm a bit tired, but I'm very happy that I spent my days off the way I did.

deep sigh of satisfaction, gramps, ma, family, movie, good times, girly
