When Jimmy and I talked about this some weeks back, I told him that I had no problem with the kids spending Halloween with their mom's extended family - they always seem to have big parties, etc, and we don't like to deprive the kids of participating in all that - I'd like to keep the kids on the Friday before Halloween. I am so happy we're actually going to DO something with the kids. This is one of the big holidays for me, and I didn't want to do nothing again this year. And it does sound like it could possibly be more fun than I've had in, like, ever. Provided the kids don't self-destruct on us, that is. This is gonna be a late night for them, if we start at 7 p.m.

Uh, after going costume shopping? With the anticipation of visitors tonight and Hallowee scant days away? Most likely NOT. I'm gonna aim for a 10 p.m. bedtime for the little ones, but am not holding my breath. We'll see how long they last. But if Alex can stay awake, she'll be rewarded. She wants to watch a genuinely scary movie, and after the other kids are in bed, I just might oblige her. *If* she can keep her eyes open.

I thought cider might be overkill with the caramel apples, so I was leaning toward hot chocolate. Of course, the way these things usually go, we might only make two out of the three planned treats before they get so distracted and flipped out on sugar that we only carve one pumpkin and there's no special drink at all. Kids.
