I don't know why I'm still awake. Perhaps it's because once I go to bed, I seriously don't want to get up. Ever. Not because I feel so very gross. I'm feeling better, actually. It's because (thank you, codeine!) my dreams have been incredibly detailed, sequential, vivid and cinematic recently. It's so much better than real life. Last night I dreamed the entire plot to an epic fantasy novel or video game. I even got character names. Eventually I did get up, but only so I could scribble down some notes before the details faded.
Speaking of those two forms of media, (books and video games), we went on a little spending spree. I have some new games, (well, new to me, but not *that* new, and that's how I like 'em): Northland, a Viking-esque strategy game, The Longest Journey which won game of the year four years ago and is still pretty cool, Civ III, and a couple of others I can't remember right now. And for books I have Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Can't believe I never got around to reading it before. And Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, which I kept hearing about and knew I had to read. It has a quote from Neil Gaiman on the cover, just like the last good fantasy novel I read. Perhaps I will spend the rest of my life reading only books that are either by Neil Gaiman or carry his stamp of approval. Probably not a bad system, all told.
Nighty night.
