Finally went to the doctor. I hate going to the clinic. It's cost-effective for Little Miss No-Insurance, but it still sucks. My appointment was for 10:45 a.m. I showed up at 10:30 a.m. They finally called me over to fill out paperwork at 11:05 a.m. I sat in the waiting room until 11:35 a.m., at which time they called me back to the little room where they take your vitals, temp, etc. Then I was sent back to the waiting room, because they didn't have any exam rooms open. Did I mention how the waiting room smelled like pee? I didn't see the doc until noon, when he listened to my chest, and took 5 minutes to declare my diagnosis. Took another 35 minutes to get the payment and prescription stuff figured out with the ladies at the desk. When they asked me which doc I'd seen, I couldn't tell them, because he never told me his name. I just said, "Sweater. Deep voice." Fortunately, they knew him. Then I went to the pharmacy to pick up what I'd paid for at the clinic. I've got huge, honkin' hot pink Erythromycin tablets, cough syrup with codeine, and prescription-strength Motrin. For the pain that I never told the doc I had, because I don't. But, the lady at the pharmacy told me I might as well take it, in case I have trouble sleeping (which, lo and behold, I do; the cough's been waking me up at least 5 times a night), because it will knock me out. She also warned me that I really shouldn't take it, unless I need it, because it's a high dosage, and "It's better for your body if you don't need it." Okayyyyyyyyyyy.
I have a follow-up appointment next week. JOY.
