July 28th- Third Year of the Spontaneous Cow (7:30pm)

We showed Cook today! She can’t keep us from our comrades! Isn’t that right, Feliciano?

No, she can’t. But apparently, thick, dank forests can.

You shut up, Feliciano. This is why you aren’t allowed to write in my diary anymore. Anyway, we didn’t manage to find Jason, but we went on a mission today. We had to sneak into the forest and get past Cook. It’s not as easy as it sounds, because she seems to be able to be everywhere at once, and her ears pick up the slightest sound.

We decided to tell her that we were going to the lake, which is technically not a lie, since we really were. Cook smiled at us and told us that she was glad we’d gotten “the barmy idea out of your heads”, and we just smiled back and nodded. She suspected nothing!

I’m pretty sure she did, considering she caught us aft--

Cook gave us some food to take along with us, and she piled in a lot of bread, some juice and other things into our bags. We thanked her and said that we really didn’t need all the food she had packed for us, but she insisted, saying that it would hurt her feelings if we didn’t take them and that we growing boys needed our food anyway.

So we went off to the lake, and we ran towards the forest, but the bags got really heavy and we had to stop for a while. We searched the forest, and called out for Jason. I think he heard us, but then he just scuttled off anyway. He’s getting demoted when we find him. We stopped for a while in our search to rest in the middle of a nice clearing with a stick stuck in the middle of it. It was really pretty, with lots and lots of flowers and things.

We were just beginning to get on with our search when we saw Cook storming in our direction from the direction of the school. She had branches and twigs in her hair, and she looked livid. I think Feliciano screamed.

NO! That was you!

LIES. We tried to run, but the bags on our backs were too heavy. I told Feliciano later that we should have eaten the food to lighten the packs when we had the chance. Cook grabbed us both and grumbled that we were bad boys and that we should always listen to what the grown-ups say because they know best. We didn’t have a choice but to nod and look appropriately ashamed.

We were sent back to our dormitory without dinner, and I couldn’t be bothered to tell Cook that Feliciano didn’t even stay in my dorm. She let us take our bags up with us, though, and so I think that she wasn’t that angry with us, since we still had all the food with us. Feliciano thinks that she knew it all from the start, and that she was going to send us up here without the bags if we hadn’t acted like we were ashamed of ourselves while we were walking back, but I’m telling him that she didn’t, and that Feliciano was just paranoid.

Someone should tell him he’s paranoid! He believes too much in conspiracy theories. Someone should tell him that too.
