June 16th- Third Year of the Spontaneous Cow
School ended today. All my friends are going home for the holidays, but the headmaster says that I have to stay here. He sniffled a little and rubbed his nose, and then he looked at me, ruffled my hair (he always does this to me. He says it’s a show of affection. I dunno. I get yelled at by the teachers for having messy hair…) and gave me a sweet (he does this a lot too. Sometimes he forgets whether he’s given me one for the day and I share it with everyone else. He’s nice. He feeds me. I like him.).
Everyone was really sleepy when they had to leave in the morning because last night we had to stay up because Dorian insisted that we had a midnight party. I think he’s been reading too many of those boarding school books. His sisters send him a pile every Christmas. He made us raid the kitchen (though it wasn’t much of a raid since the cook gave us some food voluntarily when Colin yelled: “Stick ‘em up! Give us the food and no one gets hurt!” It wasn’t as effective looking as it sounded because he was trying to threaten her with a rubber duck. He said that there was water in it and that it would come spurting out. She said she believed him, and she quivered a little, but I could see her smile. Colin couldn’t, though. He wasn’t standing at the right angle and the cook has a lopsided smile anyway.) and then we took it all back to the room and did what Dorian called “feasting”.
Everyone woke up late this morning. I think I felt someone kick me, but then I also heard that he tried to go back to sleep after that, so I guess it’s alright that he did. I feel a little bad, especially since I woke up too late to go to the station and say goodbye to them. They’re probably going to get me when they get back, but what the heck. I think I can take them.
…Or maybe I should assemble an army with whoever’s left in the school. We’ll create barracks and we’ll collect all the acorns on the field and squirt ink at them if they try to attack. And then we’ll sleep in igloos because we can’t go back to the dorms. It’s going to be fun. I should be off now and start planning.
