weekend

This last weekend was pretty busy for us. On Friday we went to a Red Wings game. Jaime got some tickets through work. It was a pre-season game, so wasn't very crowded. Even though they lost, we had fun.

On Saturday we went to the Renaissance Festival. The weather was nice. Cool in the shade and warm in the sun. As the afternoon wore on it got pretty crowded. Next time we'll go earlier in the day. We also want to buy a bunch of tickets beforehand. Several friends and their families wanted to go but couldn't for various reasons. If we can get cheap tickets like we did this year, it might motivate them. Plus we can give them more warning.

Sunday we went to E.L. to visit kenmarable and family. We went out to Uncle John's Cider Mill. Neither Jaime or I had ever been there in the 10+ years of being in the area. It was fun. Apparently they've added on a lot over the last few years. Now they have a big inflatable slide, two "moon walk" setups, a little kid's roller coaster, and more. The kids did a few things while we stood around and chatted. Then we did the "fruit flinger". You buy a small bag of apples and get to launch them using a giant sling shot. They set up targets, stuffed dummies, etc. Ken helped Owen while I helped Sam. Sam got a great shot on a metal sign they had set up. It clanged loudly and all around cheered. Owen hit the giant wooden pumpkin with a proud "thunk".

We also walked through the pumpkin patch, rode on the tractor-train, took some pictures, had cider & doughnuts (of course!), and played in the kids' area. Maybe next time we'll do the corn maze or we'll go to the one near the Barneys' house.

In other new, Gus is fully integrated in the house. She has free range now and is antagonizing the elder cats nicely. She wants to play all the time, but her older sisters are usually not keen on that idea. Every night we spend some time with her and play. She likes to tunnel under the covers and attack anything that moves, including her tail. We have to get a video of that. We've got pictures from the weekend to post.. when I get around to it.

Here are the pictures of the game, fair, and cider mill:
