Dating rant
Ok, a small rant here.
As some of you know, I've recently pretty much given up online dating. I found the people on a lot of sites to be incredibly shallow, in some cases outright rude and abusive. Often I'd get people emailing me with comments out of the blue like "god you're so ugly, why do you wear those stupid glasses you're obviously not blind, you're too short" etc etc. So, just before I gave it up, I was chatting to a girl. She seemed nice, training to become a vet.
We chatted off and on and a few days ago she asked me out for a drink. She gave me her phone number and I rang her. Now I've not mentioned the blindness thing up until this point, there didn't seem to be an opportune moment for doing so. I tell her today and then she says right well I have to go house hunting now. I ask her if she would like to meet and she says "well, I want to be honest with you, I don't have time to date someone with a disability."
Now part of me does actually understand this. However, considering I have a job, a house and a big group of friends, the 2 former of those which actually she doesn't have, and given the fact she knows very little about me or blindness I think she's just yet another example of how shallow people can be. Who needs a 5.9 squat blind hairy Iranian midget when you can get slim guys of over 6 foot who's various components work correctly? I should have shown her the helidonkey, that woulda sorted her out.
