You Can't Know the Future

You can't know the future,                            by Tom Ragland 2009
or you have short-circuited it,
you must let it live in the moment,
breathe and select,
and this is the power that
omniscience cannot know,
this is where life hits the fan,
and the future is here
on the flying hour of a new adventure.

Be afraid of the unlived life,
of not stepping out and taking the chance
because you think you know the outcome,
you don't know,
and that's what gives it magic.

Quantum theory and chaos theory explain the reality of magick.   Our intention and decisions affect our surroundings and the entire universe.   One view is that there are alternate tracks to the future and the decisions we make and the mindset we adopt chooses a track and an outcome.   The Buddhists teach that cause and effect are simultaneous so that the concept of linear cause and effect is erroneous.  The symbol of the simultaneity of cause and effect is the lotus flower.   Karma is the accumulation of past decisions.   The lotus flower is said to bloom and produce flowers simultaneously, while growing in the muck of the swamp.   It is the symbol of devotion to many Buddhists.
