omg an update
Durr... what to talk about?
Been busy at work recently- Dan's away doing stuff offsite (allegedly looking after a sick computer, but I secretly think he just wants to hang around with guns), so I'm sat here on my lonesome keeping everything going. So far nothing's happened that I can't deal with myself, so it's been reasonably stress-free, especially as the PHBs are out a lot too.
Been re-learning Perl recently so I can automate all the dull jobs we have to keep up with- it's becoming lots of use already (job that would've taken a few hours to work through gets done in 10 minutes, leaving me more time to browse t'interweb ;)). Getting used to syntax that looks something like someone's just slapped your keyboard while holding the shift key down now...
And now for the weather- was worrying about the heat in my last post, and now it's the rain's turn. I'm quite happy with rain, but I'd prefer it just a bit more spread out. I was having a nice afternoon until the last thunderstorm, and since then I've been running around checking the servers (one reboot, the others were fine), roof (one leak, but it's only a little fella and it's over an artist, so it's irrelevent), network (lost connection for a bit), and the office next door (fscked, water everywhere).
Last night's storm did, however, motivate me to finally fit the surge protector to my 'puter at home, so I don't need to worry quite so much about my PC there going pop if something nasty happens.
Been spending osme time this afternoon playing with Google Earth (as pointed out by wehmuth)- it's possibly one of the most impressive things I've ever seen on the interweb. You can spend hours sat there just browsing round places.
