Today's uncollected thoughts, or I channel Larry King's USA Today column

  • I keep thinking it's Thursday.*
  • I thought maybe that the book I hated most this year would be My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, but after some consideration, I've decided I hate The Whores on the Hill by Colleen Curran a little bit more.
  • I have a run in my stocking and it bothers me, but not enough to go out into the cold and buy a new pair of stockings.
  • I just had a Lean Cuisine for lunch of glazed turkey tenderloins, stuffing, and sweet potatoes and it was tastier and more filling than my actual Thanksgiving dinner, which was comprised of similar items.**
  • My mom turned 50 yesterday, which makes her, oh, younger than the mothers of everyone else I know, but it's still freaking me out a little because I'm not used to my mom being middle-aged (or to be honest, eligible for the AARP) I remember my mom's 30th birthday and it doesn't seem that long ago.***
  • My throat is sore for a record fifteenth day.
  • I miss my dog when I'm at work sometimes and wish I could bring her in with me. All she does all day is sleep, anyway.
  • I've had "One in a Million Girls" stuck in my head for the last month, and nothing will get rid of it.
  • I find myself reading or hearing phrases that don't match Chicago Manual and mentally correcting them. I'll hear "over 37 years," and think "More than!" or I'll see something listed as "causes such as ..." and I'll think "such causes as."
  • I could really use a pensieve.****

*Life imitates the U.S. version of The Office, again.
**If you are on my friends list, you'll understand.
***But of course it was, as I am nearing 28.
****It's from Harry Potter, book four, for the two of you who haven't experienced the magic of the boy wizard.

sophie, harry potter, sickness, family, style (in fashion), jodi picoult must be stopped, television, food, style (in writing)
