Dispatches from the Edge: A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival (Anderson Cooper)

Dec 02, 2016 09:53

Read this book a while back. Don't really have vivd memories of the content. The lasting impression of the book was that after his brother's sucide, Cooper needed to numb his senses and the only way was to go out into the fields, where the sane would not venture. Just like forensic examiners who become immune or has to be impartial when examining dead bodies, Cooper became immune to the horrors of war and natural disasters as he covers the stories on a daily basis. It's interesting to read from his perspective, the sentiments of a news reporter thrown into the frontline to scan and cover the stories for the viewers.
