So today I had the pleasure of seeing R.E.D. and thought I'd write a short review:
Essentially this is a film in which Bruce Willis shoots a lot of people in a variety of different, entertaining styles. It's not high art, it's a film in which a lot of good actors do a lot of really dumb things in a spectacularly awesome manner. It's an action comedy.
The film has bad points. Certain characters get creepy where they arguably shouldn't get creepy (to be fair I'm fairly certain the creators knew how creepy they were being, it's a misjudgement of mood, not of intent) and the good guy who doesn't make it to the credits gets a really crappy and meaningless death (which is a great pity because he was a fantastic character who would have made the final act even more awesome).
However the third act makes the film worth the price of admission. I could rant about how awesome it was but instead I'll just post a video of the trailer:
