God I need better icons. Anyway, Bazaar Ltd, all day Sunday. foundtheanswer July 10 2011, 16:03:41 UTC
He'd appeared earlier in the morning, sleeping peacefully on a bench in the Bazaar area. It was the friendly poke in the shoulder from a concerned stranger that had his eyelids twitch, then open. Blue-gray eyes turned to the face, eyebrows hitched in concern. Without thinking, he shook his head and sat upright ( ... )

Even if he had shut down the shop, he still ended up going to the bazaar most days. When he didn't have a shift at the hatchery, he had plenty of time to take Boy to the other islands and people-watch: maybe grab some things to make for dinner later. Usually people don't catch his attention too much, but sometimes he'd glance over the ones in newcomer clothing, just to see if it was someone he recognized.

He had just never expected for it to actually work.

The mess of blue hair, casual slouch-- it all matched one of the first memories he had received. The white Shiba wasn't there, but Castor didn't really care, clicking his tongue to get Boy's attention and making a beeline for the lost-looking teen, lanky dog trotting at his side.

Shit. He had thought, after Pollux had disappeared, that he was just shit out of luck for ever seeing anyone from home again, let alone someone he apparently was friends with. He knew nothing about the kid, but... sure enough, it had to have been the same guy ( ... )

He took just another look at that silk bag, pulling one of the tokens out. Was this supposed to be the money? It seemed to have different shapes pressed into it... different denominations. It made sense, and if he was going to wake up near a shopping district, the least he could do was look around for anything of use. The boy looked up at the sky and sighed through his nose. A storm was going to hit tonight. Maybe he should find and thank that stranger for waking him up before he was hit with the rain--

He snapped back to reality when he heard someone, and he turned his head. Before he could reply, a dull pain flared to life behind one of his eyes. As the other approached, he felt a strange sensation, a clench in his stomach. Something about seeing this guy didn't feel right... and he didn't know why.

"Yeah," he answered, nodding.

"...But where is 'here'?"

He frowned. Great-- had the greeter's been slacking? It was possible. Hell, it wasn't like he really paid all that much attention during new arrivals unless it was something interesting. "The bazaar," he noted simply, gesturing vaguely at the stalls. "S'where people sell shit."

A pause as he glanced over the other teen- Newborn clothes, still holding a map and new journal and... fuck, maybe he hadn't gotten the rundown. What a pain in the ass. Well, Castor really didn't feel like going on a tangent... But maybe an introduction would be good.

A shoulder rolled. "Name's Castor. You picked something to call yourself, right?" he swapped the worn leather leash tethered to Boy to his other hand as the dog sat and scratched herself happily.

Well, ask a general question. He nodded and looked back at the Bazaar. For some reason, he wondered if he could possibly find a music player here. He didn't take much for the sound of a murmuring crowd.

"Oh, yeah. I went with Jack," he answered, and wondered why the word 'Castor' made so much sense. Still, he had met someone here nonetheless and was content with that for now. He wouldn't admit aloud that waking up with an empty head in a sea of strangers felt pretty damn lonesome.

"Nice to meet you." A pause.

"Wait, is this sort of thing normal? Was Castor something you picked for yourself, then?" His eyebrows furrowed. He had a feeling he was in for a bit of a ride.

...Man, the greeters really had been slacking with this one. What the hell? He frowned for a moment at the question, before nodding. "Well, yeah. Wake up in the middle of a room with nothin' but a dream. Gotta go with something."

He would have been content to leave it at that, but... Damn. He had never been so good with stepping in for greeters. "It was somethin' I said in my dream. And it was a real damn name. We got tons've people called 'Lampshade' and 'Integrity' and shit like that." His tone, maybe, showed his opinion on it a bit. He didn't think his own selected name was any better, but at least he didn't call himself some kind of metaphysical concept.

...Instead he went with a brain-monster. Good show.

"Speakin' of- you remember much from the dream you got? It's pretty much all we got from back home." And maybe there would be more context there for the information he did have.

That's right- he did just have that dream before he was woken up. If everyone else encountered the same "arrival"... then... he wasn't different. He wasn't crazy or anything. Still, it wasn't exactly comforting to wake up with your marbles missing.

He smiled when he brought up his opinion on the names. Lampshade? Integrity? That was kind of weird, and he was immediately glad he picked something so normal. Something in his mind found a sense of, 'ha, that makes sense' at the connection of this teen and the word 'Castor'. But why?Jack brought a hand to smooth dark hair away from his eyes. The dream was disturbing to him, but if this guy knew more, it would help to divulge, right ( ... )
