He managed to scrape up a smile from somewhere. It didn't feel too fake to him, either. "Mmmm... Princess, right? Hey. I'm Cloud." Well, that was blunt enough. Now he just hoped he hadn't scared her into running away from him. And with the way this week was shaping up? He wouldn't be at all surprised if she did.

Looking him over failed to bring any sense of familiarity, but it was clear that he was a friend. It wasn't like she went around wearing a nametag. "So--you know me, huh? Who are you?"

"I saw your writing to Sniper, and... well, I. Wanted to see if you were..." 'alright' wasn't the word he wanted. She wasn't 'alright', she had lost her memories. That wasn't 'alright' by any stretch of the imagination. "...adjusting," he finished, a little lamely.

Anyway, this fellow seemed a little hesitant, despite the smile. Meeting a friend who saw you as a stranger had to be very hard... she wished she could make herself recognize him, but she couldn't. "I guess I am. I know a little bit about Edensphere now, anyway. It all seems very strange."

"That's good to hear. Did you... have any other questions?" Something else occurred to him suddenly, stirring up a sudden worry. "You have a place to stay, right?" He was pretty sure he knew where she lived, and he could probably find out fairly easily if he was wrong about that. But the thought of her sleeping outside, like this... he didn't like it. Not one bit.

It took her a moment to consider his other question, though. Well yes, she did have a lot of questions and it would probably take her a year to ask them all. "What is this place? I haven't--well, I don't think I've seen anything like it before. There are no castles, no magic shops or monsters, um... it seems peaceful and I like it, but it's so strange."

He set his bag down by his feet, so he could talk to her more comfortably. "Edensphere? Well, it's... hnnn. Most of us arrive here with our memories gone, just like yours are, but usually we hatch out of cocoons." He grinned suddenly, a real, if somewhat faint, grin, and pointed in the direction of Crystalia. "If you want monsters, though, we've got 'em. Just be careful going to that island, alright?" Because he knew she could take care of herself. That was the only reason he mentioned it at all.

"I'll... take your word for it." Cocoons, really? Princess had heard and seen all sorts of strange things about this place, but she just couldn't picture that she'd arrived by chewing her way through silk strands. She'd already heard from Gai that everyone came with amnesia, so at least that wasn't a shock.
She looked in the direction Cloud pointed in. "They only live there? I wonder why." She grinned again. "But I guess it explains why I was wearing a sword yesterday." Princess had seen a spear in her room, too, but she'd chosen to wear the shortsword today. A spear would be a little much to tote around a marketplace.

"I'm not surprised." Cloud himself had actually taken to wearing a small pouch at his side, with a few kinds of throwing knives and some shuriken, as it just seemed more practical to be armed. He usually only wore it when he was going down to the Wilderness, but he'd strapped it on automatically before leaving the house. He wasn't sure if it should be worrying that he was getting into the habit of putting it on, but it was probably better than forgetting it and getting into trouble. "A lot of people carry weapons here; that was actually one of your jobs, selling them to people."

She raised her eyebrows at the second piece of information Cloud imparted. "Really? Gosh." She looked down at the shortsword. Carrying it seemed natural and right, but she wasn't sure about being the person to sell them. "Nothing in my vision was about being a blacksmith. I guess I've got hidden depths!"

His smile turned amused, and he couldn't resist a gentle jab. "You're pretty deep for someone so short." He waived one hand in front of him. "You mostly get them from the scavengers, actually. Though I think you might to a little smith work to fix them up. Most things that come from the scrapyard are in pretty rough shape."
Reply
Still, she had a lot of questions about her apparent occupation. "Scrapyard... that's where Sniper was yesterday, wasn't it? The place with the junk monsters?" She tapped her chin. "I must do a lot of selling back to those folks if that's where they work."
Reply
"That's right. And don't worry about that--you give discounts to the Watch and the Guard, but if a Scavenger takes a shine to something they won't bother selling it. Might pay you to help them fix it up, I don't know if you charge them less for that." He stuck an unlit cigarette to his mouth, out of habit more than anything else, and left it there without lighting it. "What else... mmm. You figured the journals out on your own... has anyone told you about the Wilderness?"
Reply
"Hmm, I'll have to ask someone--but not a Scavenger," she said with a grin. She would have to find that shop and see what it was like, but Cloud's mention of a Wilderness distracted her from that. "I don't think so. What is it, and where?"

He pointed again, in the direction of the elevator and the Access Point this time, his cigarette bobbing up and down as he spoke. "The only way I know of to get there is by taking the elevator. This is the second floor for... some reason, and the Wilderness is the third. But always go with someone else, alright? Otherwise you'll get lost."

She looked around at the Bazaar. Her stomach was starting to growl a little, and there were a lot of unfamiliar but delicious smells. "Do you want to get lunch? I'd like to see what kind of food I've forgotten, too," she said with a grin.
