Captain Planet, early evening, 24th? spandexisyouth May 26 2011, 03:09:37 UTC
Gai was headed home after work, working on figuring out what errands he needed to run this evening and tomorrow to finish getting their home re-set for three people when he caught sight of Krile up ahead. Oh good. He hadn't seen her in a few days and he liked to run into his friends.

"Krile! How are you this evening? It is looking like a very good evening, even if it is a little rainy. You will have something warm to eat at home?" Soup would be good. He could see if they had any, or could make any. "You are welcome to come by if you would like!"

The only thing that Princess--as she had decided to call herself after writing to that person in the magic book--heard at first was Kupo! Which was rather familiar, but why was this man calling her that? He seemed to know her...

Well that was good! She'd been wandering around for a few hours, but had ended up back here in her circuit of the bridges. She hadn't tried the elevator yet. "Hello!" she said with a friendly smile. "Um... is my name Kupo? I haven't been able to remember a thing all day."

"Your name is Kupo? When did your name be--" Not able to remember. So it was spreading again. "No, your name is not Kupo. I am guessing that you cannot hear your name, like I could not when I forgot, a few weeks ago."

Gai paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to address this correctly. "Are you calling yourself something?" Fred had picked something new this time, so Krile might have. "Otherwise, for a time you went by the name of Cara. I do not know what meaning that had to you, I am sorry. But I am sure that if you have picked something new it is fine and fitting!"

There was a lot to cover if she'd forgotten everything. Gai wasn't sure where to start, and then he realized there was one rather important thing to cover first. "I am Gai. I am one of your many friends here. You are in Edensphere. Everyone here has forgotten their past, but some have re-forgotten it and that is all right because there are many here who will help you and others out."

"...You just said my name was Kupo again," Princess said with a giggle. "But I guess there's some magic that keeps me from hearing that, too. Until that goes away, I'll stick with Princess."

Gai. The name didn't sound familiar in the least, but she wouldn't have expected it to. It was a little unsettling to know that amnesia was that common here... but if there were that many people, it didn't sound so bad. A person didn't need memories to be who they were. "It's nice to meet you again, Gai!" She looked behind him at the enormous tree. "So--why did this happen? Please don't tell me we all got hit over the head." She said that with a bit of a grin.

Gai grinned. "Perhaps you simply like the word Kupo! But I shall be glad to call you Princess. It is a graceful name, and so I think it fits!"

He followed her gaze to the Tree before shaking his head. "Do not worry, I will not tell you that. It is... When we arrive, we are all born without memories except for a dream. I am guessing that your dream is why you are calling yourself Princess! Then while we live here we gain more memories and friendships and relationships. Very often strange things happen, like chairs running away with people, or choruses following others around singing, or plants growing that make people hug. Forgetting again is another thing that happens, it looks like, because it has happened once before." Gai shrugged, still smiling. "I do not know why we arrive here without memories, but it is one of the things that might not be safe to ask. This place has secrets and does not like people looking into them."

"I dunno about graceful," said Princess, but she still grinned and didn't comment beyond that, simply trying to take in Gai's explanation. There was... quite a bit. Chairs running away with people? Matchmaker plants? It sounded more than a little far-fetched.

And questions that weren't safe to ask? That just sounded weird.

"...Are you sure you're not pulling my leg?" she asked. He looked sincere enough, but all that was hard to swallow.

"No? We shall see!" He thought she was graceful enough, but maybe she didn't feel it. It was a small thing to discuss, though, in light of all that had to be taken in about the Tree and what it could do.

Gai looked down at her legs at the question, glanced at his hands, and then looked back at her. "...I am sure? I think I would know if I was pulling. And you would know as well. I am just walking."

Princess giggled. "It's an expression, silly," she explained. "It means 'are you kidding?' But... I guess you aren't." If he got that puzzled over the phrase, he probably wasn't the sort of person who would make things up. "It's just a little hard to believe."

Strange things happening. She rocked back and forth on her feet a little bit. "You said that it happened once before. Do you think it'll wear off on its own?" she asked hopefully, even if she was a little doubtful that it'd be that simple.

"Oh!" Okay. That one was another to add to the list. "I was not kidding and I am sorry for not understanding. But it is fine that you thought I was, because there is a lot to take in. I will help you in any way that I can, Kri-Princess. We are friends and so I would be glad to assist."

Gai nodded. "Yes. It will. I have faith in this. I was affected last time and forgot everyone I knew here, but I remember again. You will get everything back, Princess."

"Thanks. I really appreciate it, Gai." The news that the memory loss was temporary was a huge relief. As much as Princess would have tried to make the best of it, she didn't want to be this way forever.

Well, she ought to get re-acquainted with the basics of this place. And hope that somehow her questions weren't unsafe ones. She reached into her jacket and pulled out the journal. "I found this magic book on me. What is it? How many people have them?"

"You are very welcome, Princess!" He was glad to see that she accepted that. It felt good to be encouraging, especially when he knew how difficult the situation was to deal with.

"That is a journal! Everyone here has one. If you write in it, everyone sees. If anyone writes in it, everyone sees. It is a very good way to communicate to many people all at once, or just to say something and see what others think! And then when others write in it you write back to them, and you can make friends easily that way! It is also good in case of emergencies. If you need assistance and you write in it a great number of people can read that and come to your aid."

"Gosh, what a useful little thing." Princess checked back to the entry where she'd written to that Sniper person. It seemed like he was still writing, which was a relief. "I'll keep it on me, then."

She slipped it back into her pocket. "Oh! If I live here, do I have a house somewhere? I've been exploring the islands, but so far I haven't seen any houses at all and I'm not sure how to use the, um, elevator."

Does she live with anyone? I don't recall any roommates spandexisyouth May 31 2011, 00:40:23 UTC
"It is very handy for many things!" Gai smiled approvingly. "That is a good idea. I do not know anyone who goes without it. Or goes without it long, unless they have lost it. And then people start to worry because they have not written in some time!"

"Oh! Yes! You have a house! And the elevator is confusing at first but I know how it works now. It is this way, and you live in Section three." He nodded his head in the direction of the elevator and started walking, making sure to keep it at a decent pace so he wasn't straining her.

"Oh good! I saw it, but it took me a while to get the doors open and then I had no idea what button to press." Why would anyone make a door without handles, anyway? And Princess couldn't believe that it was a piece of machinery. It was so sleek and bare on the inside.

She followed Gai, still looking around with a great deal of interest. Even though she'd been exploring, the islands in the sky were still fantastic, and the sunset just made the mist below lovely.

"Oh! Yes. It seems taht people do not carry their maps around often." Gai pulled his out of the journal where he kept it, showing it to her. "This is the floor we are on now, the second floor. The top floor, the first, is where everyone lives! The third floor is the Wilderness. It changes, a lot, and you should not go there alone, because you will not find the elevator again if you are alone. The fourth... we cannot really go there by choice. And the fifth is the Yard, where a lot of things are findable."

He smiled as he glanced back, seeing her look around. What was it like to see this place anew once more? Gai looked around too, taking in the sights and recalling the wonder at walking on floating islands. "It is a very pretty place. I forget that sometimes."

wrap this up when they reach her house? feathered_earth June 5 2011, 01:53:35 UTC
"Well, I'll start doing that when I find wherever I keep it," Princess resolved. She looked around again. It was hard to think of these islands as a floor. That was something in a house or an inn with walls around it, not islands suspended above mist.

Without any memory, coming to without any guidance, Princess had been astonished by every sight. It seemed now that they were heading for the tree itself. Were the houses in the tree? It seemed that an entire town could be built in its branches. "Are we going up there? Is that where the first floor is?" she asked, pointing upwards.
