It was a decent day with a decent pay and things were moving progressively in the right direction. Everyone was on time, no one had complained quite yet, and the ingredients were fresh. Edensphere had not yet thrown his restaurant into chaos except for a few clones here or there, but otherwise there hadn't been any unnecessary problems ( ... )

Ooh, boy. Marbles noticed the guy approaching out of the corner of her eye and tried to keep walking as if she hadn't noticed him, but then he just had to go and speak up. No way was he going to believe she hadn't seen him, now. And she couldn't run for it without giving the game away.

Reluctantly, she slowed her steps and gave him her brightest, sweetest smile. "Sure!" she said - and as she got a good look at him, her stomach plummeted into her boots. The owner. She'd never seen him up close before, but this had to be him. Gah! Gotta sound cheerful, gotta sound normal!

"You've got a pretty great place here!" she chirped, hoping a little small-talk might shoo him away. "I love the pasta."

"Thank you," he spoke nearly instantly to her praise. "The desert was to your satisfaction as well?" He use to work at the Bakery. It was a good enough coverup to corner and slip corner to her form. It was a good thing she hadn't run.

The bright smile would not face and Black's expression was underneath a rather serious one, "I find it strange someone would need a little air when their meal is quite finished. You don't seem to be in any emergency so perhaps we can escort you back inside for your payment. But if I am mistaken and you have paid, then I will glady offer a free meal on your next visit.

His hand had already swept behind her as if to offer a way back inside.

Well, there went that option. Marbles forced herself to take a step or two in the direction he was guiding her. Something about his eyes - geez, what a weird color - and the shape of his face was putting her on edge, plucking at the corners of her memory. He wasn't going to be easy to shake, was he?

"Gee, that's really nice of you," she gushed, beaming up at him. "You know what, though? I think I'd rather have one now!"

As the last word left her mouth, she dropped and pivoted all in one nimble motion, diving under his arm and rolling in a somersault towards the door. She came up running, as fast as she could. Gotta lose him, quick!
