Summary: This isn't the first time Marbles has dined and dashed (thank you, King-sensei), but it's the first time anyone has given her a run for their money. Literally.
(
But just in time for breakfast )
Which is why Marbles had chosen a very bad day to enter his restaurant. He was on edge and looking for the first sign of something to go wrong. The demon had just slipped out of the door of the kitchen to check on the captains and wait staff when he noticed someone heading for the door. Usually he'd dismiss such things for what she was playing out to be except that no one at all was noticing her slipping out so casually.
Black didn't rush after her or bolt. If he was wrong on his assumption, he'd know soon. Eyeing the table she had left, he noticed the waiting check on the table, the empty bowls and the side placed napkins. A sudden bright smile folded on his face as he took casual steps himself towards the door, pulling his white pristine gloves rather taunt. Handing his apron towards the nearest captain, he raised a finger lightly.
"Excuse me, Miss. May I have a word?"

Reluctantly, she slowed her steps and gave him her brightest, sweetest smile. "Sure!" she said - and as she got a good look at him, her stomach plummeted into her boots. The owner. She'd never seen him up close before, but this had to be him. Gah! Gotta sound cheerful, gotta sound normal!
"You've got a pretty great place here!" she chirped, hoping a little small-talk might shoo him away. "I love the pasta."

The bright smile would not face and Black's expression was underneath a rather serious one, "I find it strange someone would need a little air when their meal is quite finished. You don't seem to be in any emergency so perhaps we can escort you back inside for your payment. But if I am mistaken and you have paid, then I will glady offer a free meal on your next visit.
His hand had already swept behind her as if to offer a way back inside.

"Gee, that's really nice of you," she gushed, beaming up at him. "You know what, though? I think I'd rather have one now!"
As the last word left her mouth, she dropped and pivoted all in one nimble motion, diving under his arm and rolling in a somersault towards the door. She came up running, as fast as she could. Gotta lose him, quick!
