Now that the euphoria of having his sister back had worn off a bit, Simon was starting to wonder again about her. During her previous stay, she'd been so quiet... often seeming like she was off in her own little world, having a penchant for wandering barefoot, curling up on the floor whenever she so desired, yet having occasional screaming fits, and even moments of peace and normalcy, especially when she danced. Now she'd come back again; she still seemed like the same River, except different, somehow. She was poking her nose into everything, asking questions, meeting people, ice-skating, and more importantly, perceiving and speaking those perceptions aloud. Qi seemed to know how he was feeling. And she had mentioned being "broken".
Simon wanted so badly to know what made his sister tick so that he could do his best to be with her, to support her, to love her, to fix her, as she seemed to expect him to. Even in spite of the troublesome memories he'd gotten of them being on the run, being hunted. Even in spite of the fact that he knew so little.
He'd fully intended to take things slowly, however, gradually introducing her to the quirks and weirdness of Edensphere, and to the fact that she had been here once before and not remembered it. However, his plans were shot out of the water when Genius had called her "Serenity", unintentionally revealing so much, and Simon realized that trying to shelter her was not going to work. Part of him could also not help but worry that she was already developing outside attachments, that perhaps she did not need him as badly as she seemed to at first. He didn't know WHY this worried him, but it did.
"Mèimei," he finally asked her quietly as they relaxed in the living area in the evening, "Do you- do you like Edensphere so far?" He figured that was as good a place to start the conversation as any.
