...And there was Aim. As ordinary as the idea of having an identical look alike had become, Gene wondered when the reality would feel normal. It was still just a touch surreal. He took a deep breath of his own that sounded more like a sigh, then nodded in acknowledgment to Aim.
"Hey yourself."
Gene indicated a nearby seat with a broad gesture that trailed smoke in its wake. If he'd had anything prepared to say, it'd flown out of his head. Oh well, he could wing it.
"So... where do you want to start?"

He tried to steal a more direct glance at Gene, without being rude. They really did look exactly alike, and it was yet another one to add to the heaping pile of unsettling things. Still, hiding how he felt came like second nature as he settled a bit more into his seat with an ironic smile.
"You act as if I have a point of reference." He shrugged. "I haven't got a clue where to start."

"How's this for a point of reference?" Gene exhaled, then pointed his cancer stick at Aim to emphasize his statement. "You've been here before. Twice, in fact. You didn't hang around long after I first got here, so I couldn't tell you much about what you did." He tapped off his ash in the plastic ash tray provided on the table beside him before continuing. "But I'm sure there are a few about who could tell you if you're that curious about it."

He looked up again. "Well yeah I'm curious about it. There's people here that know me." He wanted to finish 'I don't even know myself,' but that was a given by now. The questions started coming to mind now, but he fought back the urge to blurt them out at Gene...who seemed to suggest with his words and body language that he didn't have much of a desire to help, even if he had had the ability.
