He decided to take a perch at the bar itself after arriving soon after seeing the entry announcing the opening and stowing his coat in the coat room. He didn't want to dress TOO fancy, but didn't want to look sloppy, either, so he wore his best jeans and a blue button-up shirt, deciding that was a nice comprimise.
Ordering a martini, he settled in to people-watch. Perhaps later could come mixing with the people he was watching and inspiration for more stories...

Once through the door she took a second to let her eyes adjust to the darker interior, noting that it looked different to the last time she had been in the bar. Hardly surprising, considering all that had happened since then...
Fred wandered over to the bar and looked at the drinks menu--not that she was considering getting anything alcoholic, but it was interesting to look at nonetheless.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the man next to her turn her way slightly, and she realized he looked familiar. Turning toward him, she smiled slightly in recognition. "Hello again, Derrick. Fancy running into you here."

"Evening, Fred. Care to sit with me and people-watch for a while? This is quite a..." He groped for the right word. "AWESOME place. That's about the only way to describe it. This bar has everything."

He smirked slightly, only half-joking.

She picked at a loose thread in the embroidery on her skirt. "Have you come up with a solution for making books more easily? I might have a suggestion if you have not."
The printing press had still been in the Post Office; she had checked a week ago or so. Just a quick reconnaissance mission. She hadn't dared stay long, not with the repercussions of her last visit, but she had noticed that not only did the Post Office look different, the printing press was in a new place now. Fred wondered again who had moved it, but it didn't matter. Just so long as they didn't send another snake through her roof.

"I've thought about fetching a computer and a printer from the Wilderness, but that's not going to last forever," he said. "And if I'm going to be making any money off my books, I need to have a way of making enough copies for people to actually BUY instead of just borrowing and swapping them around."
He then looked at her curiously.
"I'll bite. What is it?"

"I found something you may find useful, in the... in an island near the Bazaar." Fred kept her voice pitched relatively low but not so low that Derrick couldn't hear her. She was trying to look like she wasn't talking about anything important. For all she knew, that was the case; she wouldn't have worried about telling the aspiring writer about the printing press at all, if it had not been located in the Post Office. "A printing press. It's rather rusty and I am not sure what condition it's in, but if you can fix it up that would help your book-writing efforts immensely." She suppressed a sudden urge to glance over her shoulder, and tried to convince herself that no one was listening in to their conversation.

So he stepped up to the man and gave a little wave. "Yo! I'm Smoke - the owner. Hope you're enjoying yourself?"
