Handmaiden's reaction to her return had certainly struck Victory as strange and if that massive blot of ink was anything to go by, she was not just imagining it. Nonetheless, as she thought back, all that she recalled was filled with holes. Her instinctive reaction to the fire that Fugue mentioned - what was the word she was looking for? - and the snow that followed after... all this rung very raw with her, but she could not place why.

That aside, she was still not entirely sure what had really happened. From what she could remember, she had been training in the park and then... she found herself 'reborn'. Her thoughts ended as she ran out the elevator, picking out Handmaiden quickly. "Handmaiden!" Victory called over, running over to her. Beyond her newborn clothes, there was hardly any hint of her gruesome death.

Handmaiden walked towards Victory when she saw the woman, slowly coming out of her disbelief that she could be alive and well after what had happened. It was quite plain that she was. There was no marring on the life energy that Handmaiden could sense through the Force--she knew its name know. The Force.

"I..." She struggled to think of words. Seeing Victory in person did not seem to help her find something adequate to say. "I am truly grateful that you have returned," was what she finally did say, and then a thought struck her. Many who had died in the fire did not seem to remember it.

"Do you know what happened?"

There was something about Handmaiden's tone and her hesitance as she spoke that did not sit right with Victory either. Had something happened to her? Certainly, she had been acting strangely since she had written to Victory that that afternoon... could this be something to do with the fire that Fugue mentioned.

When the question was posed to her, there was a short silence before Victory replied. "Victory... train, in park." she began, thinking back. "Try to master new skill. But... something happen. Victory wake in goo again... No know how got there."

Thinking about it afterwards, by the way Handmaiden posed the question, it seemed as if Handmaiden knew something that Victory should have known... what was going on?

"Fugue... say there was big fire. Lot people die." she finally said, not sure if this was relevant.

"Yes," said Handmaiden. She had no intentions of concealing from Victory what had happened. It would simply be wrong to do so, no matter how painful it was to remember what had happened in those moments. And she was remembering it anyway, whether or not she put it into words. So vivid--so much darkness on that day.

"It would seem that you lost your memory of what happened during the fire. You... died," she said, only pausing because the word seemed utterly inadequate to convey it. Died. She had burned, choked, slowly and in pain. "I was with you when you did."

Her words grew quiet as she went on, brief though they were. "I am sorry. I could do nothing to save you."
