Steve was sitting at the Greeter Station, leafing through his journal and doing his very best to ignore a large albino corn snake that was coiled on the desk in front of him. He wasn't sure if he should be glad or not that he wasn't the only one who had been forcibly given a new pet; he was, however, very glad that several people had said the things talked. Otherwise, he would have decided he was crazy when the snake first appeared yesterday.
You can't ignore me forever, you know.
"I can try," he muttered under his breath.
The sound of a cocoon breaking open was very welcome. Maybe it would distract him from this latest prank of the Sphere's. Grabbing a the usual newcomer bundle--thank goodness there were towels now, that had been a horrible few days--he walked off purposefully to find the hatchling. With a dry rustling sound, the snake came slithering after him, and Steve suppressed a sigh. "Looks like it's gonna be one of those days."
