Since heading back inside after her encounter with Wolverine, Companion was feeling conflicted. She loved Sky more than anyone else she could remember, but with Mal's recent arrival and Wolverine returning she was quite suddenly confronted with feelings she had thought she had resolved long ago. Unfortunately, the kiss she shared with Wolverine had proved that belief to be false. She was almost thankful that it hadn't been Mal, but at the same time she still felt horribly guilty about what had happened earlier.

When she heard footsteps heading her way she prepared herself to be honest with Sky. No matter what it took, she couldn't hide this from him.

"Hey," said Sky, smiling softly as he entered the bedroom. "I know we've already seen each other today, but-" He faltered upon seeing Companion's face. He could tell that she looked troubled, and wondered what it could possibly be about- she'd seemed alright when they'd talked earlier that day... He dropped his messenger bag and was immediately by her side. "Is something the matter?"

"Hey," replied Companion, considering the best way to bring up her dilemma. "Yes, something is the matter, but I wanted you to hear it from me. I kissed Wolverine, under the mistletoe." She met Sky's eyes with her own, regret and embarrassment coloring her cheeks as she continued to choose her word carefully. "I owe you an apology, because while we did only kiss it stirred up other emotions which made it far more difficult. It was almost as though it was a test, and I'm afraid I may have failed..."

Sky reeled back for a moment, stunned. Whatever he'd been thinking she might have told him, this certainly was not it. His mouth fell open, and he gave Companion a strange look.

"You kissed him? Wait. Back up a minute. Was this before or after you knew that hugging him would be enough? Because if it was after... well... we're going to have a problem with that."

He put his face in his hands and took a deep breath, trying to suppress his instinctive reaction of anger- and even more pathetically, thinking oh God she's about to tell me she wants to break up.

Steady. Talk to her. Work it out. Don't get mad and make things worse. Don't lose your temper. Don't make assumptions or accusations.

Companion watched his reactions, sighing inwardly as she took in everything. On one level, it wasn't like it had gone any further, but she knew Sky was aware of how she felt towards Wolverine.

"It was before, I didn't know that there was another option until the mistletoe appeared in the Spa and Juliet told me." She spoke softly, knowing it wouldn't help.

She walked over to where her cup of tea was waiting, taking a sip before clearing her throat slightly. "I want to be honest with you, as I'd rather not keep things hidden."

Moving closer to him, she looked up at him with a quietly serious expression. "I had told you before that I care for Wolverine, but it would never work. This doesn't change that, nor does it change my feelings for you."

Sky paced around the room as she spoke, listening and trying to deal with the mixed emotions that had risen within him. His initial reaction of hurt and anger was still there, but not flaring brightly enough to the point where he'd lose his temper.

Finally, he walked over to Companion, meeting her eyes and nodding.

"I believe you," he said firmly. "I told you before that I trust you, and that hasn't changed, either." He took her free hand, the one not holding the teacup, in his own. "...Thank you for being honest with me."
