Ambassador had a rather good liquor selection back home, due to the wilderness of vices, but there was sometimes something lacking in drinking alone. Not that he had any problem with doing that. In fact, he had no problem with doing it two or three times a day, as job and time permitted. But sometimes he wanted the atmosphere of a bar, the jostling and bustle.

It was his day off, and Ambassador felt like spending the afternoon, at least, at the bar. Soon enough he was ensconsed at the counter, smiling emptily at the other afternoon regulars. There weren't many, but there were enough that he didn't feel entirely strange being here. As long as he could avoid people trying to mess drunkenly with his hair, Ambassador would be content.

Kagerou had been simply passing through the bar to check on a few things. The place was finally running on more than a bare skeleton crew; it had quickly become apparent to her that she had to prepare for ten to twenty percent of her workforce not showing up on any given day for any number of weird and weirder reasons. However, when she peered into the bar proper and spotted a familiar face, she mentally pushed her other errands back a bit. She was not in such a hurry, and she had wanted to speak with Ambassador. The sleepy afternoon ambiance of the bar was as good a place as any.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Ambassador." She swept to the bar in a whisk of long ponytail, smiling brightly; not the polite cheer of the waitress, but genuinely pleased to see him. "How are you?"

"Kagerou, my dear girl. Now, I am better. Your sunny face, it does that." He smiled back. While he had no idea why she was kind to him, he appreciated it. "Come, you will sit with me, tell me of your day? Perhaps yours, I can make better."

Quickly he made sure the barstool next to him was clean, and the counter as well. It wouldn't do to offer her a dirty spot. "Or, if you are not busy, We could walk. I am not too choosy, sometimes." That got a chuckle added on to it. He knew he was sometimes rather picky, but he chalked that up to having taste, and sometimes, refinement. Not always, but sometimes.

Had he asked the reasons for her friendliness, she might have been bemused. In part it was that she treated kindly everyone who didn't give her cause to do otherwise. In part, he seemed a little sad and lonely at times, and she wanted to alleviate that.

And in part, she'd simply come to quite like him.

"Walk? That sounds good to me. The weather is really nice today." While Kagerou loved the bar, it wasn't really a place she came to socialise. It was work and responsibility the moment she stepped in the door. "And my day? I guess it's been rather busy? I was just running errands, and of course I'll be back here in a few hours."

While not a frequent visitor to most social places, Mona couldn't object to the offer of a free drink, not after her recent weekend. Yes, Ilyigan had offered protection. Yes, he had accepted the vial willingly. At the same time, she was unsettled. So easily she had been outplayed by the Sphere. The cocoon had been frustrating, made no less so by the chatter over the journals implying that others knew what came of such things and had not warned.

The evening of the 28th Mona decided to take an evening to relax. Perhaps she would even find the one she'd spoken to on the journasl. After some time, Mona settled on a single glass of wine and relaxed in a booth off to the side, watching the people around, contemplating what to do next.

Thursdays seemed to be a bit of a deep breath between Wednesday and Friday: not as busy as either, as if the bar were gathering speed for the bustle of the coming weekend.

Kagerou was still flitting to and fro in the bar, having taken up her old waitressing part for a bit. It felt more comfortable than pouring and mixing drinks, even though she had the hang of that by now. Glass of wine, glass of wine... She paused with the one remaining item on her tray and skimmed the tables for its destination. There.

"And here you are, miss, I'm sorry for the wait!" She set the glass on the table and tilted a smile at its sole occupant, then paused. "Pardon me, but have you been here before? I usually have a good memory for faces." If the admittedly striking woman had not, Kagerou would jot down this drink as being on the house.

Mona tapped the brim of her hat when the drink arrived, raising an eyebrow at the question. A good memory for faces? That could prove to be very useful, in a place where names were so fluid. It was something to be filed away for later.

"I have not. This is not something I oft indulge in, but it seemed acceptable after these last confusing days." She smiled. "And despite the strangeness of things to myself, I have little doubt that this is no unfamiliar sentiment to your ears. I am likely simply one of the more recent to come to such a realization."

"But this hardly makes for pleasant conversation. Is this busy for you, or more relaxed?"

"Well, I'd have to admit you're not the first person I've got that from." Kagerou stood up straight, her smile turning a bit wry. "But that's part of why we're here. The bar, I mean. Sometimes you do need a break."

She glanced about and made a quick mental calculation of whether she could linger to talk for a few moments. Probably she could; she wasn't in alone, and as said, it was Thursday, and a somewhat slow one at that.

"Oh, definitely more relaxed. I'd be running my feet from under me if it was busy, usually. Business is pretty steady--I guess in part because of what you mentioned before."

Flame didn't come to the bar that often. It wasn't that she disapproved of alcohol or that she didn't like the company -- she wasn't sure if there was a real reason, except that she couldn't be everywhere at once, and mostly she spent her evenings reading or jogging, something solitary to wind down after a day in the shop.

She came by this evening, though, thinking that it might be nice to be among friends, or strangers who could be friends. She knew that Smoke worked here, too, and he'd just returned from the Wilderness last week. It'd be nice to see him. Or just any friendly face, really.

She made her way up to the bar and considered the options, eyes passing over the bottles along the wall.

Kagerou had moved on to manning the bar, so when the fair-haired woman stepped up, she turned her way with a polite smile.

"Hello there! What can I get for you?" There seemed to be another new face, although she remembered seeing this one around before. Edensphere was small enough that she quickly came to know the regulars at the bar.

And likewise, Flame had noted the redhead with the bright smile before, although she didn't know her name. She smiled back.

"Just a beer, please. Unless you want to recommend something? I don't come here mind."

"Um." Kagerou paused, rapping her fingers on the countertop and absently thinking that she should run a rag along it as soon as she had the chance. The stains had a way of creeping up, even at less busy times.

"It depends on what you like, really. Something sweet, something a bit stronger? I can always give you a beer, of course, but we do have some variety right now. We were able to restock from the Wilderness last month."

Lab coat on and tablet PC in hand, Stellaris was walking down a hallway towards the staff room when she saw a familiar redhead passing. A pleasant coincidence; she had intended to make a stop at Smoke's after work today. A confirmation whether the product she was looking for was available would be handy. She caught up with Kagerou and cheerfully greeted the girl, "Hello, Kagerou. Do you have a moment to spare?"

"Oh, hello!" Kagerou had been tasked with organising supply closets on account of it being a not particularly busy day, and she'd just been on her way to the next one. Her long hair was braided tightly down her back, as it was whenever she was on shift at Medical.

"I suppose I do. I have some tidying up to do, but it can wait a bit. Um, can I help you?"

"Does the bar have Irish Cream? Or Irish Whiskey, though in that case I need to get more ingredients..." After making the query, Stellaris' tone trailed, but one can still heard the enthusiasm in her voice.

"I think so." Her brows knit as she tried to summon up a mental tally of the bar's current supply. It changed rather a lot, as they had to rely on raiding Wildernesses for pretty much anything but the ale and cider that the Farm could provide. "I'll check for you when I get in today, all right?"

She canted her head, smiling a little at her fellow medic. "You sound like you need it for something specific, right?"

29th, afternoon~ The dojo ruby_nova April 29 2011, 21:52:42 UTC
Nova hadn't been to the dojo in a while. That is to say, even in the time she could recall, it'd been a few weeks at least since she'd visited the dojo, which meant it'd been even longer when you took her absence into account. Although being an Adventurer meant frequent feats of athleticism, she didn't have a chance to put her sword skills to use as often as one might imagine, and any weapon required daily practice to remain in peak form ( ... )

29th, afternoon~ The dojo weaver_girl April 30 2011, 06:33:08 UTC
Kagerou had been practicing outside in honour of the brilliant spring weather. Ever since she and 00 had escaped the most recent Wilderness of horrors, she had had an itch at the back of her head to be more diligent about her training efforts. She had progressed well--if Gai told her so, she trusted it to be to truth--yet she hadn't really measured up in the Wilderness. Real danger was still something that could freeze her thoughts and thus cripple her actions.

For now, she was sweaty and quite satisfied, her hair wound around her head in a crown of braids, dressed in sweatpants and a tee-shirt. She'd left her bag and water bottle in the cooler interior of the dojo, but which training hall had it been?

She slipped open another door and, rather comically, started as she came face to face with Nova, crouched there as if ready to bean an intruder with her shinai.

"Ah! Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

ruby_nova April 30 2011, 09:07:11 UTC
Nova relaxed visibly when she saw that it was Kagerou who had entered and not some dummy preparing to attack her. She didn't put her shinai away since there was still always a chance for surprise attacks; if she needed it, her own (real) sword was propped against the wall in a rack.

"Kagerou!" Bounding up to the older girl, Nova gave her a loose hug, not wanting to get any sweat on her. The two had already met and exchanged the promised baker's dozen of hugs that they'd settled upon over the journals, but fresh hugs were always a welcome thing.

"I didn't mean to startle you. I hope I didn't scare you?" Not that Nova considered herself a very fearsome sight, but one could never be sure of how others perceived you. Maybe she was more intimidating than she imagined?

At any rate, judging from Kagerou's attire, she was probably here to train as well. The two of them had occasionally trained together... maybe Kagerou would be keen on another session? "What were you practicing?" Nova asked.

Kagerou returned the hug with a laugh, though she was also mindful of her own soaked state. At least the worst of the urge to just gather Nova close and hug her forever had already been let out. She ducked behind one of the equipment racks and produced the bag she had tucked there. Tugging out her towel, she set to wiping off the worst of the sweat.

"No, no, I was just lost in thought. That happens to me a lot, so it's okay!" She smiled. "At least you stopped short of actually walloping me over the head.

"Oh, I was just doing kicks and punches against the dummies. I could try a staff again, if you wanted someone to spar against?" Her smile grew lop-sided; she had asked Gai to show her the wooden staves at the Dojo, and got some training in their use. They seemed a better option if she ever needed an actual weapon than holding a sword. She didn't like to hurt people, even in self-defence, but many things in the Sphere were bigger and stronger than her. Having a weapon to stick between herself and danger hadn't seemed a bad idea.
