Today we went out on our own to explore St. Andrew's. I went with the guys for the day. We learned a lot. Pilgrimages to St. Andrew's began in 1100!!! I actually found a few cool pieces of things leaning more to history and not so much just nature (though given it was art). At St. Andrew's museum there were two really cool pictures! One was of the Consecration of St. Andrew's and the other was of families picknicking and playing by the North Sea (which the view was the same as the one we had from our window). We went to All St.'s church today for a 9:30 communion service. Here, God spoke to me and made me realize I'll always be a part of a small church no matter what denomination. I love the close knit feel of one. Though my definition of small is about 250 people...just clarifyin.
Oh! I forgot to mention the most important part of this day...it rained almost all day! There are pics where my poncho is flying around my head...at points I was suffocating cuz it was covering my mouth and nose. Today's weather made me understand why pilgrims were so devoted and steadfast in their journeys. I totally appreciated their determination. I wanted to turn around so many times but God kept pressing me forward. It was breattaking washing the waves crash against the shore. Aaron and I went to a gift shop where he bought me a small diamond pendant. I love it! Matt was proud of me cuz it was the only store I'd asked to go in all day. he said I was doing great at keeping the estrogen levels down. Matt, Aaron, and I hung Eme's Cabbage Patch doll from the bulletin board in our room. She thought the cleaning lady had done it. She was about to go downstairs and accuse them of it. It was so hysterical!
We climbed to the top of a tower at the site of castle ruins. you had to go through a turnstile to get through. Matt went in first and then decided he wanted to try to push it backwards to see if you could get in free...well when I went to get in and go, it got stuck 1/2 way because it thought I was already all the way through. So since Aaron still had to go through too, he put in his coin, squeezed in with me and we pushed. Bo was it a tight squeeze. And then the steps...narrow as can be and bunches. Not good since I'm scared of heights and claustrophobic. But the view at the top was worth it. Daily life is like this too....it can be tough, but looking back, one can see the beauty in the rough path.
