Whoops, been a few days since I posted!
Partly I have been distracted by life, partly my hand has been sore, and partly I have been very tired.
1. My hand/wrist is healing well. I went in to the orthopedics office to get my dressing/bandage changed yesterday afternoon, because it was getting a little gross with skin oil and general dinginess and I did not have the materials or the know-how to do a dressing change at home. I took a couple photos of the surgery site while I was between bandages, and it looks kind of gross but surprisingly tidy and not bloody.
Also surgical stitches look like black fishing line, which is a little disconcerting.
2. Work has been a little busy as we continue poking tenants to either renew their leases or commit to not renewing so we can rent their apartments to new people for next year. We're also trying to negotiate some apartment switches with badly matched lease start and end dates, which is the kind of dance that is the exact opposite of fun. *headdesk* On the bright side, inquiries have picked up again and Mr. Geniality and I have both been giving semi-regular tours to prospective tenants.
3. I picked up a Not the IRS shift on Sunday because of scheduling changes handed down on high from company central. I think I will spend the afternoon sitting there doing nothing since all my clients who've scheduled appointments have claimed slots later in March, but hey, if company central wants to pay me to read, write fanfic, and occasionally answer a telephone, I am not complaining!
4. Nick sent me fancy chocolates as a you-survived-surgery gift, which was very nice of him. It's also sort of a reciprocal thing, since I sent him fancy chocolates last year when he had surgery. I think chocolates are just a nice thing to receive when your body is saying OUCH very loudly at you, and also a nice little congratulations-you-did-the-thing acknowledgment.
Tangentially related, I got Nick's card into the mail in time for it to arrive on his birthday yesterday. I'd been worried it would be late, so that was a minor relief. :)
5. On another small-nice-thing note, I bought myself a cool pair of earrings from the Tibet Store (that is literally the store name) which I think are made of ivory or bone or something similar. They have a pleasant weight and make a cool jingling noise when I turn my head.
I never wore necklaces much, and I have mostly stopped wearing rings because rings are uncomfortable on sweaty puffy fingers (and indoor heating means I get sweaty puffy fingers even in the depths of winter, to say nothing of the misery of summer), but dangly earrings have been my Thing since I was twelve years old and first got my ears pierced. I have simply leaned more and more intensely into that preference over the years. :DDD
6. Church continues to be very AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH as we try to scrape together an interim minister search committee, work with the Healthy Congregation Team to organize small listening circles where people can express their own flavors of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH in a controlled environment, and otherwise attempt to carry on congregational business despite, you know, the general state of the world and also our leadership turmoil. It is all very stressful.
And now I shall return to performing my actual job, blargh.
