"This is ridiculous," Dean said. Castiel was unchanged, mostly, except that he couldn't feel Jimmy's prescence somewhere inside anymore, and for a moment he almost couldn't remember why he expected to. He suddenly seemed to fit his body a lot better, a lot closer, and he could almost forget the arch and stretch of his huge, impossible wings. But he couldn't, he wasn't that susceptible, and neither, apparently, was Dean.
"Yes," Castiel said, because it was usually best to agree with Dean, and it did, indeed, seem somewhat over the top.
"I'm married," Dean said, looking down at his hand, eyebrows drawn together. "I mean, in this weird alternate universe I am."
"Yes," Castiel said, and then took a sharp deep breath, becoming aware of one other small change. He lifted his hand, tried to ignore the stupid brief spike of all-too-human longing. "To me." He cleared his throat, forced emotion out of it. "In this weird alternate universe you are married to me."
Dean looked as if it was the last thing in the world he'd wanted to hear. "Is gay marriage even legal?"
"I don't think that matters, in weird alternate universes," Castiel said, trying not to place any particular stress on the words, fighting to be normal. Dean had changed. Dean had been changed a lot -- he looked something like the business man Zachariah had made him, his hair neat, his clothes not so very far from striped shirts and suspenders. He looked good. He didn't even wear the clothes that awkwardly, when he wasn't focusing on them. They didn't fit him like a second skin, not like his leather jacket and his jeans and his plain black t-shirts, but they fit him well, and when he wasn't trying...
Dean snapped his fingers in front of Castiel's eyes. "C'mon, Cas. We've got to fix this."
"Yes," Castiel said, swallowing hard, and wished that Dean's clothes didn't look quite so good. "Of course."
