I was all prepared to do a 2004 flashback on New Year's Eve. It was on my all important list. But I didn't have any time for such a list. My brother, who works for a newspaper, he told me that the only reason there are so many year-in-review stories in papers and on cable "news" is because no reporter wants to work during the week between Christmas and New Years, so these montages are produced in early December.
That being said, I now am ready to get back to work. I shall look forward to the year ahead. My resolutions for the year are to read two books a day and go to the gym 100 times a month! Honestly though, the gym thing is always a mess. I can't remember the last time I didn't resolve to go to the gym more right after New Year's. And to make matters worse, the gym will be serving pizza tomorrow afternoon, as they do the first Monday of every month... Maybe I need to avoid the cushy gyms. This gym serves free pizza and bagels once a month. My last gym had a snack bar. A gym in Worcester had a bar. But do I really want to go to one of those prestige gyms where I pay a million dollars? The price is good at this gym. Avoid the pizza Doyle, avoid the pizza.
My New Year's Resolution is to stand up for myself.
I received the first 3 seasons of Seinfeld on DVD for Christmas. Today I saw the pilot. It was called The Seinfeld Chronicles, and the theme music was weird and completely cheesy. I would venture to say that Seinfeld was completely different and much much better in the last 6 seasons than during the first 3 seasons.
It's on to January now. A cozy month. I am making a ridiculously short trip to New Mexico this weekend to attend my Godson's baptism. That will be nice. I just found out that's where Dan is getting his Master's degree too. I don't despise the winter that much. My birthday being in the middle, it gives me something to look forward to. Who wants to get together sometime in February to celebrate lovers lovers birthdays?
