After The Storm

Nov 02, 2009 18:40

You promised me a rainbow
Translucent arches of light illuminating the exit from dark, turbulent times
A mosaic beacon guiding the path to rewards for persevering the storm
A new beginning after a violent end

A single tear incites a torrential reign, innocence drowned in your downpour
One word provokes gale outbursts, no shelter can withstand your turmoil
Your deafening thunder threatening my existence, silencing all but my will to survive
Flashes of rage ignite your reckless contempt, blinding me from everything but the truth

And now I see...

After the storm, my tears are for those who can not cry
I reach out but can not touch those who are not here
I look for those who I can not see
to show them the promise of a rainbow's end

You promised me a rainbow
but only if I survived the storm.
