I absolutely love how the dreams of his death aren't nearly as vivid as the ones she wishes were true. This is so, so sad. I just want to hug Cedric now! Thank you for writing this. You've given a clear insight into Cho's character -- before this, she'd always seemed cardboard to me :P

Haha, I'll take that as a compliment. :D One of the things I love most about writing Cedric/Cho is there's always that "what if" element, and you can play around with that so much. This fic was actually supposed to take another direction, so I might write another version of it.

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad I could show even glimpses of Cho. I think she has so much potential to be great, but I understand that JKR wouldn't have too much opportunity to explore her characterization beyond the whole human hosepipe thing.

this was so incredibly moving. and you know what? i've written a few little cho/cedric ficlets on a similar premise. it seems to me, speaking only from my personal experience, that when you lose someone you love, the dreams of how you wish life was sting so much more than the dreams of what really happened. there is nothing more painful than false hope, even if it is bliss for that one fleeting instant. beautifully captured. well done, you.
