I feel great.
I intended to go 17 miles or until my legs fell off, whichever came first. This would have been reasonable--my longest ride to date was 12 miles and I felt pretty good after that.
Instead, I left the house in a crappy mood, and discovered that, outside, it was a perfect sunny day with a cool breeze. So I got on the Minute Man trail and just kept going. I never felt like I really needed to stop, and I did feel like my mood got better the more I biked. So, without really intending to, I biked to the end of the trail.
The return trip was a little more purposeful. I wanted to get home and I wanted to work myself a little harder. (I was pacing myself pretty conservatively on the way out, since I wasn't sure how far I could go.) Fortunately, the path is downhill a lot of the way back. I love the feeling of flying along at top speed.
For those who care: I went very slowly (averaged 8.6 mph overall) and took two breaks. I think I could go a bit faster, but I don't know if it would be as relaxing. Anyway, I'm not feeling self conscious about my speed. I'm just so happy that I got so far!
