Mercury eyed her communicator. For the moment, it was silent. Sasuke, she could hear him moving in the next room. Surely he'd heard her earlier crying, and shame flooded her. How far had she disgraced herself lately anyway (and despite recognizing it, why had she not stopped)?
I'm done playing soldier. Those were very serious words for someone in her position to speak, and she half expected some superstitious punishment to follow them immediately. But she had not been struck down. Of course, only seconds after saying that, she had said she still intended to pursue her missions - which only led her back to the jumbled conclusion that she wasn't sure what she wanted right now. The only thing she seemed to be saying consistently was that she was angry at the people trying to determine what was 'like her' or not. How could they know that until she did?!
The blue-haired girl sat on her bed, taking a few deep breaths to center herself. She moved into a more proper posture and began to clear her mind. As she did, the headache - of course one had come in the midst of so much emotion - began to recede; she was thankful.
