Sasuke was settled on a low branch of a tree near the water. He knew about her connection to water; about her world; about her. They had a lot in common, that was true, but he realized agaoin when she asked him to help her... it brought him back to the concept that knowing people was always beyond him. It was just because he was smart and capable. This would be what Sasuke would convince himself of; but he knew that wasnt the case. Knowing someone's heart and someones person rather than just the similarities; the obvious (and often surface) similarities; the abilities. After so long it was almost like he'd forgotten. Forgotten what it was like...
It was strange because again someone wanted him to help them. He didn't lack confidence in that ability as much as it was that he didn't entirely believe that he was teacher material. (Even though he'd been training Kimihiro for a good two months). And help them.. and actually want to help them. He did. She was smart. She was strong.
With everything that was going on lately he really could question why he was out here; and why he'd requisitioned what he did. Why he went to visit Sakura; why he was becoming resentful and bitter against Naruto. Why he wanted to know Yuuko. Why he was so overwhelmed that he cried when he saw Nami. Why he'd put Itachi's death on the back burner (but by no means did this mean he wasn't going to do it; it was just suddely much less important). Why he was doing all of these things... he was healing.
Sasuke rolled to his feet from the crouch he was settled in as he saw Mercury not far in the distance. Soft coals were blinked away into triple-tomoe vermillion. They watched her from his spot, analyzing her chakra, her movements and their suggestions. Everything and anything he could pick up on. Just for the purpose of improvement.
He was healing. He was moving on. He was beginning to live for the future. He was beginning to be his own person. And that reality... Sasuke was torn between happiness and horror; but he smiled just a little at the thought.
This Metalia. It wasn't the same as the cursed seal per se, but it did do something very similar. He would help her.
