The air was definitely cleaner here than in Econtra, Al realized as he crutched over and opened the window of Mui-Deka. The crisp spring air seemed to clean his lungs of that disgusting stuff that had been in them, the metallic ash that the Entropi had rained on the old compound. It tasted like salted spoons, and made it difficult to breathe.
He still wheezed a little when he woke up in the mornings, but aside from that, his lungs were much better than they had been even a week ago. He hadn't told anyone that about it; they had been worried enough about his leg as it was. He himself hadn't realized it at first since he just hurt all over. But with the pain from his leg basically gone thanks to the web he could feel that tiny bit of heaviness in his chest, like something was sitting at the bottom of his lungs.
....hmm.
He crutched over to the bed, passing by his dresser to look at the jar on it. There, in some water, grass and canned foods trnasmuted into a suitable solution, was the body part formerly known as his leg. Some people would've probably thought he was crazy for keeping it, but Al had his reasons. He had questions about himself still, even after all this time, and about the Gate, at least in relation to himself. He didn't see himself using alchemy to anser those questions, of course. But physics - the other science, the shunned science on Amestris - could prove most useful once he learned enough of it for his purposes.
Meanwhile, the plush kittens, the other survivors of Econtra, frolicked and played with one another as Al went back to his bed. One of them jumped into his lap and curled up, ready to snuggle with its creator.
