Otogi had been searching and searching for his earring ever since he'd realized that it was gone. Every second that passed just made him more and more nervous. He had to find it before someone else did, and if someone else beat him to it, he had to get it back before they figured out what it could do. Since no one here knew what he was, he thought he had a chance. He could just say it had sentimental value, had been a gift from his mother, or anything that would get it back to him as quickly as possible ( ... )

Misawa jumped. His nerves were on edge as it was, and having unfamiliar people burst into his room were the last thing he really wanted. He turned to face whoever it was and blinked. Well. Just when he'd thought the day couldn't get any odder.

"Is it really that important?" he asked, sounding almost petulant. "Really, I'd like to help, but I seem to be having a..." He couldn't quite think of the word to explain what was going on and merely gestured at the pencil, which was still busy recalculating formulae.

Otogi glanced over at it, then looked back. "Let me guess, you wished for that work to do itself, right?" It was almost amusing to see the look on his face. Maybe he could get the earring back with a minimum of trouble.
