Rouge was standing a little ways behind him, quite amused as this turn of events. That woman never seemed to know when to keep her mouth shut and now, she had Shadow willing to spend time beating her up. She could already tell that watching this would be far more amusing than anything else the town had to offer.

"How long do you think she'll last~?" she asked casually. From what she had gathered about the human, there was no doubt that she'd show and from there, it was only a matter of counting down the amount of time Faye would be able to remain standing. Hopefully she wouldn't black out from the onslaught. It would make it difficult for Rouge to add insult to injury, after all.

It was at this moment that Faye stalked out from between the buildings. She'd only taken the time to throw on her bomber jacket and gloves... and, of course, walk the length of the compound; with Building 3 destroyed, she was now situated in Building 1, in the north of Neocontra.

She was in a rotten mood, and it showed on her face. A small fire of anticipation was burning inside her, however, boiling her blood, quickening her heart beat, making her extremities tingle. It had been a while since she'd been in a good, honest fight, and she was looking forward to working out her frustrations. She was especially looking forward to wiping that smug look off of the annoying hedgehog's face.

Her eyes flicked to Rouge, standing a small distance beyond him. "What the hell are you doing here?"

About to answer the bat, Shadow's attention was diverted when Faye strode onto the scene. And boy, did she look pissed. Chances were, she would only get angrier from here on out, too, and maybe then he would let himself laugh. It might be hard to keep from doing so, as a matter of fact.

"Surely you don't object to an audience," he said casually. "Don't worry, this is between you and me only." He was actually surprised she hadn't brought someone with her, herself. Or did she not have any friends here? It would be nice if that were the case. Nobody else to come after him, seeking revenge for her injuries.

"The fight is over when one of us is no longer capable of continuing," he stated. "Anything goes. And if I were you, I'd forfeit now." A small smirk flickered across his lips.

"I can also act as the referee~ Can't have you trying any dirty tricks to win, after all. Not that they'll do you any good," she teased, giving Faye a mocking look.

With a light beat of her wings, she went a few yards into the air and moved farther back. Getting in the way of what was about to take place would be terrible for her health and she was ready to move more if she saw any stray Chaos Energy moving towards her.

Faye raised an eyebrow at Rouge, coming to a stop just out of reach of Shadow, her weight slung lazily to one side and her hands on her hips. "Referee? Dirty tricks? He just said anything goes. You stay out of this."

As if any sort of admonishment would have prevented her from fighting dirty- Faye was all about dirty tricks.

She returned her complete attention to the hedgehog, most of which had been focused on him from the moment he'd come into view. A calm settled over her, as it always did when she knew a fight was imminent. "The terms are acceptable," she said, her voice clipped and businesslike. Then a small, dangerous smirk spread over her face. She slunk forward, one small step, still looking relaxed and confident. With a smooth, teasing tone she said, "If I were planning to forfeit, do you think I would have bothered to show up~?" Before she had even finished her sentence, her non-weightbearing leg was swinging up in a front kick towards his face.

Good of her to start things off, really, he figured. Had he made the first move, she surely would have insisted on his disqualification despite the lack of rules.a

She was quick for a human, he'd give her that much credit. But it didn't really mean much. Once she began her kick, he vanished before her, only to reappear above and behind with a hard stomp of those metal-heeled shoes aimed at her head.

Settled safely away, Rouge began to do what she had wanted to do from the start. Messing with the fight directly was out of the question, but that didn't mean she couldn't provide helpful commentary.

"Ooo, a pathetic miss from the underdog~" she mocked, shaking a finger at Faye.

Faye's eyes widened as the hedgehog simply vanished and her foot swooshed through empty air. Before she had time to turn or react or even think, she found herself face down on the concrete. A moment later she became aware of a shooting pain at the back of her head, and a stinging from her chin, lower lip, and knees. Her vision spun, and she groaned.

Well, fuck, she thought.

Another quick use of Chaos Control aided Shadow in landing a good several feet away from Faye, rather than right on top of her. He crossed his arms and looked her over, somewhat concerned about having overdone it, but not concerned enough to bother doing anything about it beyond watching and waiting for her to get back up.

"Is that really the best you can do, human?"

Down for the count already. Disappointing, really, since Rouge had nothing else planned for the day. All this had done was prove that Faye was either a normal human or hiding whatever 'powers' she had from her world. She was betting on the former.

"That was faster than I expected. I guess I gave you too much credit~"

Faye made an effort and rolled over onto her back; she wanted to keep Shadow in view. She focused on the hedgehog, frowning and ignoring both his question and Rouge's commentary. "That was cheating!" she whined.

Unsurprised, Shadow simply replied, "Impossible."

The terms had allowed anything and everything; she herself had reiterated that point only moments ago. It wasn't his problem if she was a sore loser.

Deciding it was safe for now, Rouge landed and wagged a finger at Faye. It was hard to keep from laughing at her, but somehow, Rouge managed. "And here I was, thinking anything was allowed. You did agree upon that, didn't you~?"

In reply, Faye glared at both of them. She pushed herself up into a sitting position, putting one hand to her head. "Ow, shit, fuck, Goddammit, ow!" she exclaimed, then continued with a string of angry-sounding Chinese. She turned her glare on the offending bat and hedgehog once more, her hands resting lightly on the ground next to her. "I'm serious, though, this whole place cheats!" she said, continuing her whining complaint. "I usually win fights back home, but here it's all vampires and hedgehogs with magical superpowers! It's not fair!!" You didn't used to think of it as 'home', a voice in the back of her head pointed out. She ignored it.

Faye eyed Shadow consideringly. He's fast, she thought. Faster than me, and I'm fast. That should've been a boot through his face right there. "...You're just going to keep doing that, right? The teleporty thing?"

Shadow watched her boredly, impressed by neither the copious number of curses nor her rather juvenile attitude toward the situation. And this was the sort of person the Consulo was choosing these days? Honestly?

"I can only do it once every few minutes," he lied. "You'd better hurry up."

The levels he would sink to for some sort of entertainment in this place were abysmal, apparently.

She gave Shadow a sidelong glance. The lie was obvious to anyone who knew him, but if he wanted to keep this going, she wasn't going to tell Faye. In fact, she was going to do the opposite.

Turning her attention back to the other woman, she confirmed Shadow's lie. "He's right. Your best chance is now, if you hurry. There's no need for you to be afraid~"
