Witnessing one's 'love' kissing someone else didn't do wonders for anyone's mood. With revenge extracted on the human girl who had been a part of it, Rouge had left the apartment in a hurry. It had hurt to see that and the last place she wanted to be was in the same area where they were likely to return and repeat the act. Or do more, but she was keeping her mind far away from such images ( ... )

Dimly, Faye noted that her feet had taken her to the park. She registered no surprise at this realization. She often found herself beneath the trees when she was feeling moody.

Wrapped in her misery, Faye stared at the frozen ground beneath the feet, eyes blind to anything but the image of Spike in her mind. As she walked along the shore of the pond, her mind whirled in wretched litany, I miss him, I love him, why did he have to get his stupid ass killed, oh Spike, Spike, I love you, Spike....Thus absorbed, Faye didn't notice the presence of another until she was almost upon them. ...Was that human blushing at her? And her voice sounded familiar. Wasn't she the one that Rouge found herself arguing with on occasion and talked to about the mistletoe being incredibly stupid? That made it all the more strange.

"Hello," she replied. This wasn't what she expected to deal with when she walked out the door and as she watched the human carefully, she took a couple steps towards her. "You're Faye, right?"

The lovely creature spoke to her, and Faye's heart skipped a beat. ...God, what a sexy voice! she thought.

Faye's eyes widened slightly as the beautiful creature stepped towards her- and said her name! Faye smiled a little bit, a small, glowing, honest smile, unlike the sly, sarcastic smirks she usually wore. "You know my name?" she breathed, astonished. "Uh, I mean, yes! Yes, I am!" She bit her lip, wondering if she dared.... Get it together, Faye, she thought. Be cool. She collected herself, then asked, hesitantly, "Um... what's your name?"

Rei hated to curse. While being a village girl who had spent way too much time in the streets, she usually restrained herself.
But this time...
That damn spell. It couldn't be anything else. What else could make her oh-so-suddenly remember every detail of her interactions with Kai? How he gave her his support, how he had the silly habit of using facepaint, how he stirred in be-
Enough of that. She was out to get this away from her mind. Thinking about someone who was dimensions away from her wouldn't help. At all.
She spotted ....yeah, her name was Faye walking towards her, seemingly looking as down as herself.
Maybe it was this curse too, who knew? They were always compound-wide.

Faye trudged into the plaza her heart heavy and her hands shoved into her pockets. She felt deeply confused... she still couldn't stop thinking about Spike, and now... her. She fought the temptation to go find the new object of her affections right now and... and... well anything, really. Just being near her had felt wonderful. Being away from her, on the other hand....

I love both of them, she realized. God, love really sucks. Why does it have to hurt so much?

She became dimly aware that she was approaching someone, and she glanced up, startled. Her eyes lit upon the figure of a familiar-looking girl... and her heart filled with a warm glow. She came to a stop, gazing at the girl in wonder... she was beautiful. Faye felt slightly baffled. What the hell is happening to me? she thought feverishly, confused.

She realized she was staring and blushed lightly, swallowing. "Uh, um, hi," she stuttered. She recognized her as the girl she'd met on her very first day in Neocontra. Faye strained to remember her name. "...Rei,

Rei had felt swarms of emotions directed to various people on the last couple of days. Actually, towards everyone she met; the strongest had still been Kai. And she didn't know why. He wasn't even here, and he was nothing more than a good friend...and partner...nothing more than-

The other looked nervous. She attempted a small smile to reassure her. ''Yes, Rei. Hello, ..Faye.''
The breeze blew over her bangs, which annoyingly stuck to her face. While fussing with them with a small frown, she attempted to start the conversation. Afterall, she hadn't seen the woman since Faye's arrival in NeoContra.
''How have you been doing?'' she asked politely.

When Rei spoke her name, that warm feeling in Faye's chest grew. She smiled a little, delighted. "You remember me!"

Rei asked politely after Faye's well-being, and Faye's little smile grew. She really cares! thought Faye. "I've... been okay. Could be better, could be worse. I'm... you know... surviving." She shrugged a little, gazing at Rei earnestly. "And- how have you been? I hope... okay?"
