Asuka had noticed the post stating who had performed the thefts, but the name 'Jing' meant virtually nothing to her. She wouldn't have known who he was from any other person around Econtra. Not that she wouldn't have liked to have had a little bit of a chat, once she knew who he was. Destroying her mother's red scarf ranked as something that could, and did, get her very angry.

She had the remains of the scarf near her where she could see them, but most of her attention was on the photo album in her lap. It had been with her when she'd been brought here, and she kept it very close and very safe. She was quite glad that it hadn't been the target of the thief's attack.

A sudden gust of wind grabbed some of the scraps and sent them soaring away, and Asuka sighed in annoyance, put the album to the side, and went to grab them before they got lost or were found by other people, like that young man in the orange coat she saw walking near.

Jing stopped when something blew across his path, and he bent down to pick it up, his typical helpful nature overriding the rememberance that he was supposed to be "heartless" at them moment. Then, with both the female figure coming towards him and the recognized material he held, he remembered and put a cold smile on his face.

"Well well," he said as she strode into hearing range. "This looks familiar."

Hearing that, she blinked a little in surprise. She knew that she didn't know him, and didn't think that he knew her, as far as she was aware. But it didn't take her more than a second to figure out what he had to mean.

"Let me guess. You're Jing."

Jing sketched a mocking bow. "Give the lady a prize."

Asuka wasn't all that amused by that. "You don't know what this meant to me," she said, her voice just a bit too quiet. If Fubuki had heard that tone in her voice, he likely enough would have been backing off and checking for cats she could wield as a weapon. "And I don't think that you care, either. I had to fight to get it back once before, from someone who didn't care about anything except himself. Right now, you remind me a lot of him." That was not in any way a compliment, either.

"Of course I knew," Jing said, smiling coldly. "If I didn't, I probably would've left it alone. Maybe. Or maybe I would've just found something else."

When she spoke, her words dripped ice, far more so than they had long ago in her second year. "I hope you get exactly what you deserve from all of this."

And she had something she wanted to give, just to start it off.

"If you leave everything to karma, you're going to be in for a lot of disappointment," Jing said. "I make my own luck."

Asuka did not smile at that. She also did not usually hit people, unless they'd pushed that last button on her temper, which took some doing.

Jing had done it.

Her hand flew quickly, slapping him across the face. It wasn't the strongest blow that had ever been struck, and at best would leave a red mark for a while. But she didn't care about that.

Jing frowned; he'd taken far harder hits than that, but it was the source of it that irked him, this little shrimp of a lady was hardly considered an opponent.

"Didn't your mother even tell you not to hit people?" he snapped. "And if she didn't, then she should've at least told you to make sure if you do, that they don't. get. back. up."

The last part was said with steely warning and he advanced a few steps upon her.

He could advance on her all she wanted. Asuka stood her ground, just looking at him calmly. She had faced some of the darkest and lightest demons of her world and at the moment, Jing was nothing compared to most of them.

"Actually, my mother told me to duel people if they offended me. But since you don't know how to duel my way, I can't do that."

Jing admired her for standing her ground. He stopped when there was less than a scant foot between them.

"Fair point," he agreed, suddenly sounding disturbingly like his old self. "But, I can do this."

And he leaned in and kissed her.

Asuka had never kissed anyone before. She'd never thought about saving it for anyone in particular (though if she had thought about it, a certain one-eyed Australian might have lingered in her thoughts), so this startled her quite a bit.

Then she stepped back, and even harder than she had the first time, she smacked him on the other side of his face. "What do you think you're doing?"

"Ow!" the thief complained. "I don't need a matching set!" He didn't protest too much because he knew he'd deserved it, but still. "I'm not that out of practice! It wasn't that bad!"

Asuka just glared at him; it wasn't how good or bad it was that made her upset, it was the fact he'd done it in the first place!

Without another word, she grabbed all the stray pieces of the scarf as well as her photo album, and stalked back towards the apartment building and Paj-Ennea.

She had never wanted to brush her teeth so much in her life.
