Bored himself, Shadow had gone for a bit of a run, but there wasn't much joy in that when he was so restricted in how much room there was to run in. Still, at least it was exercise, and something to do. Sort of.

He stepped on into the room, wishing Sonic would return, so that he would have an evenly-matched opponent once again. Well, almost even. Though the blue hedgehog could be surprisingly capable at times-

Had he just heard Rouge saying something? She seemed to be laying there and reading quietly. She hadn't looked up at him, and he was fairly sure she hadn't spoken. Especially because she didn't usually start conversations with him by commenting about how much she wanted someone to love her.

Shadow gave her an odd look, then went over to check his PDA, which he'd left on the bedside table. Maybe he was just imagining things. Although why he'd imagine that, he wasn't sure and didn't really want to know...

Shadow didn't even get a glance in his direction as she was far too used to him coming and going whenever it suited him. Her thoughts, however, did drift a little. The first man she had ended up falling for and he turned out to have hundreds of reasons not to even attempt dating. The circumstances would be strange, so it wasn't as if she could blame him for it, but that didn't keep it from being disappointing.

She turned a page right on schedule to keep her daydreaming hidden, currently oblivious to any abnormalities. They wouldn't have been a bad couple, she didn't think, if atypical. It would have be nice to try, in any case. Not that Rouge wasn't appreciative of the fact he didn't lie or like almost any other man, get with her regardless merely for the other things that might come of being in a relationship.

Finally, Rouge spared a slight glance at him out of the corner of her eyes. Hm, such a shame.

Okay, now he knew he had to be hallucinating. She definitely wasn't speaking, her attention was definitely on her novel, whatever it was. Some kind of romance crap, probably. He didn't get why she read those things; none of it was useful, and... well, he'd never read one, having absolutely zero interest in them, but reading about some fake relationship couldn't possibly be as engaging as she seemed to make it. Not that a real relationship would be interesting, either. Well. Maybe it would, but again, it wasn't like he knew, or cared. There were far more important things to focus on, especially in a place like this ( ... )

...Wait. In the middle of her own thoughts, there was something that didn't sound anything akin to what she had been thinking of. So much to do with disliking the genre she held in her hands that didn't line up with her own opinion on the matter. It sounded more like something Shadow would say, but he hadn't uttered a word since entering the room.

Rouge glanced over at Shadow more openly before returning to her book. Whatever the hell had happened, it had better stop. As much as she respected his opinion on things, she didn't need her subconscious to remind her of it when her mind was trying to enjoy itself by daydreaming and reading something he disliked. Besides, even if she knew he thought relationships were boring (how she knew, she wasn't sure, but the idea was there now), how would he know? He'd never given one a try, after all. With the right person, she always thought they could be adventurous.
