Warnings: Um. None yet. Except, first post is a bit TL;DR.
It had to be done.
Princess Mercury was certain of this as she walked on the water, ice forming beneath her bare feet to keep her afloat, as always. She had changed her dress to that of one which was so dark navy blue, it looked black. It was the closest she could go; she never wore true black, ever. Even though she was not in her senshi form, she held the Mariner Blade. However, the weapon had changed, the hilt more ornate, the blade itself thinner. It looked like a ceremonial sword, which was exactly the point.
The memory of the people who died here was an image firmly burned in her mind; thanks to the close relationship she had with Mars, Mercury was a bit more in tune with the spiritual aspect of things. The fact no proper memorial or sendoff had been performed for them bothered her greatly. So she decided to do one of her own, one she had seen a few times back home. It was a ceremony usually reserved for people of prestige and power, or royalty. However, in Mercury's mind, the innocents of Entropi deserved it.
They deserved to be alive, too, but Mercury knew that was even beyond her power. This was all she could do.
Stopping in the middle of the lake, Mercury closed her eyes and held the sword horizontally in front of her, the pale hand not on the hilt gently sliding along the flat of the blade. She began to speak a prayer, and as she did, the entire water began to form many icicles, though instead of from the sky downward, they came upward from the pond and surrounded the princess. "Mercurius, creator of my home, Lord of all water, I, Princess Mercury, beseech and pray for you to lead the souls of those who perished in this land to peace. The many innocents who lost their lives at the whims of the Entropi... May they find eternal rest, free from pain."
Blue eyes then opened, the expression best explained as one of calm. Both hands grasped the hilt of Mariner Blade now, holding it so the point of the sword was pointed downward. Plunging it into the ice that held her feet above the water caused a chain reaction, the icicles that formed around her shattering into millions of tiny pieces, like a diamond dust. It fluttered around the pond like snow, bits landing on the princess as well.
"Amen," she murmured.
