She didn't particularly feel like being analytical, but something had rubbed Beryl the wrong way - between one servitor worried over his "acquaintance" and the other even willing to defy her for that blasted girl's sake. Did they not see she was only a source and cause of strife and difficulties? Her contributions, particularly her attitude, were not worth that.

The undercurrent of a faint jealousy, a faint envy of that attention and how far Kunzite especially had been willing to go... Those were smoldering coals beneath the flame of that irritation.

But it hadn't been anger, or even temper, that had made Beryl summon Jadeite so abruptly. It had been desire - for someone's presence, for his presence, perhaps even for him. She afforded him a pleased smile as he entered.

The youngest shitennou kept his head properly bowed; he didn't see the smile.

"You summoned me, Beryl-sama?" he asked instead after a moment of silence. He risked a glance upward and dropped his gaze again. He couldn't have said why that summons had made him nervous as he was. Perhaps there was no reason.

He felt that he'd soon find out.

Very soon. Beryl's smile widened a little despite the fact it was clear Jadeite hadn't noticed it. He'd come, as she'd known he would, the one she could trust with absolutely anything.

She didn't bother raising him or even telling him to rise. Instead, Beryl walked the few steps to where Jadeite knelt. She was standing over him, looking down at him, and then Beryl bent herself to kiss him firmly.

Jadeite's blue eyes flickered up just slightly when she moved, and he looked up outright, startled, when she bent down to him. "B-Bery--" he was cut off by the kiss. He didn't argue against it, but instead leaned into it just slightly after a moment, shifting so the redhead didn't have to bend down quite so far.

Still not entirely used to the demanding kisses that Beryl seemed inclined to, the shitennou broke away from it a moment later. His eyes were questioning, slightly confused.
