Kurogane walked outside in what was on top of the 'clean' pile of clothing; white dress shirt, dark jeans, black coat, and his black boots. His boots were the only thing from his Japan he kept wearing here as they were made to run and fight in. And you never knew when you were going to have to run and fight. He also had with him a mug of tea. The tall man followed the steam up to look at the stars.

Might as well take advantage of the relative calm that had settled over this place. With that thought, Kurogane took a sip of tea and headed to find higher ground. He made his way up some stairs and missed the sight of a woman in heels jumping about. If he had seen her, the ninja would have been impressed. Of course he was already slightly impressed that anyone could even walk in those ridiculous types of shoes.

As he opened the door to the roof, he realized he wasn't alone and glanced over at the woman, raising an eyebrow slightly at the getup. Looked like something someone would wear on a date. "... You meeting someone up here?" If so then Kurogane would just turn around and find a different roof.

Mel heard the door to the roof, not turing unless she needed to, neck still arched backwards, looking up at the stars. No matter how many times she saw them, it was never enough. She never saw stars, 'least not in the sky, back in Haddyn. The masculine voice questioned her prescence up there and she shook her head, black and pink hair shifting back and forth on her shoulders.

"No. Just...sittin'," Melaka replied, cursing herself mentally. Should have gone to the furthest corner of the complex, brace her back against the corner where the walls met and just sat there. At least she'd see people coming and be able to run off if she knew who they were.

"Ah..." The part of his brain that hardly ever shut up started wondering about the clothes again and why anyone would just sit in such a dress. The larger part of him didn't care what the hell she did. "Mind if I..." he trailed off, lifting his mug up toward the roof's ledge where he planned on 'just sittin' himself. With tea and a bit of star gazing to distract him, Kurogane wouldn't mind sharing a roof with someone.

"Not at all," Mel replied, shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders. She looked over at him, looking him over from head to toe. She'd never seen him before, of course, there was a lot of people she'd never seen in Econtra. It was a big place, after all.

Kurogane was giving her the same sort of look over, past the clothes this time. If he'd seen her before, she was just another face he glanced at walking through this place. He had long since given up trying to keep track of the people in this place. And Kurogane was hardly a social butterfly, so he gave her a curt nod, took a sip of tea, and moved of to a nearby ledge.

He stepped up on it and sat down carelessly, boots hanging down towards the ground. Kurogane took another sip of tea, which hadn't spilt in the rough action of sitting. Time in bars had a way of teaching you how to balance a drink. He looked up at the sky, keeping the other in the corner of his eye out of habit.

She glanced over at him, wondering if that was it. He'd gone over to sit on the ledge, not paying attention to her anymore? Jesu, that sounds self-centered. What did she care if people paid attention to her or not? Her shoulders rose and fell and she glanced down at her shoes, swinging her legs back and forth slowly, the heels making a soft thunk sound against the side of the air conditioning unit.

A stiff breeze blew, the late September air causing goosebumps to rise on her exposed flesh, her black and pink hair tossed by the wind.

That was his plan, yes. Or would have been if he wasn't keeping an eye on her and if she didn't have that sad aura about her. He really did try ignoring it, but his stupid moral training wouldn't let him just sit and mind his own business. So Kurogane attempted an awkward start at a probably awkward conversation. His gruff voice mostly hiding the fact he didn't know what the hell he was doing, "... You dress up and sit on roof often then?" A meaningless question, but he figured she could just ignore it if she preferred they sit in silence.

"Hm?" Melaka grunted softly, glancing over at him for a moment. "Oh, no. It's spun," Mel scoffed, rolling her eyes and lifting one hand to rake her fingers through her hair.

"I...a friend of mine got this for me for my birthday a couple weeks ago and I wore it to that ball Belldandy threw. It was a real shock to a few people, I'm not exactly one that gets all gussed. I'm mostly wearin' pants and a shirt or somethin'. And I felt like wearin' this again, but had no reason for it. So I put it on and decided to hide on rooftops in the middle of the night and the more I talk, the more I realize I've completely spun," Melaka sighed, chuckling self-consciously before lowering her hand to her lap.

A talker then. Aw well, Kurogane was use to talkers. "Hn, I was forced into a suit for that ball thing..." He then added a mumbled, "and attacked with hair gel." Which failed, his hair was just as stubborn as he was and refused to stay down for long. Much to his friends' frustration.

The hiding on rooftops was perfectly acceptable in his logic, moving to take a sip of tea. Though he blinked at her slang after a pause, glancing over at her, "Spun?" Kurogane got the gist of it, but it was still an odd word to use.

Melaka kept forgetting that a lot of the people there didn't exactly understand her way of speaking. "'Nother word for 'crazy'," Mel explained. "Sort of like. 'I must be completely spun, blabbin' about my life to a complete stranger."

Melaka sighed softly, looking up at the sky for a moment. Worrying at her bottom lip, her mind went over the events of the ball, how it'd been rocketship and spun at the same time. There was no way she was gonna babble on how she'd kissed Tony Stark so her annoying twin, who happened to be a vampire, the thing she'd been Chosen to kill, kept bothering her about her not-relationship with Duo Maxwell.

The ball was fine till that mind control spell took him over. Now he was trying to rebuild a relationship that wasn't really a relationship to begin with. Seemed to be going well, whatever it was. The trust was still missing but at least they were talking to each other again. But Kurogane wasn't one to share things like this with a stranger.

He gave a cross between a grunt and a hum for the definition of 'spun' and looked back at the sky. Obviously the girl had a lot on her mind or she wouldn't have started going off like that. And now sitting over there fretting, Kurogane noted out of the corner of his eye. He took a drink before addressing her again, "If you need to get something off your chest, I don't mind being a wall to talk at." Now, being talked at wasn't his favorite thing in the world, but he was use to it and could block it out if need be. "Or you can ramble about something else, for all I care."

Mel shook her head, cheeks burning. She felt like a damn fool. "No, I'll keep my ruttin' mouth shut. Not right pilin' all that on you and expectin' you to actually listen." The vampire slayer shook her head before running her fingers through her hair again.

She could use a stiff drink. Mel wanted to return to the apartment, drink a whole bottle of the stuff they had there, by herself. Couldn't do that. Not all dressed up. Melaka chastized herself for even dressing up in the firstplace.

Kurogane shrugged, "Suit yourself." Sure she had better people to talk to anyhow, people who it would actually do some good talking to. Since she didn't want to get it out, Kurogane went back to his tea. Holding his mug with both hands and letting it rest on his knees as he hunched over slightly. If brought up, he would agree with her on the stiff drink, but it would be more of way to kill time for him. Plus the pure enjoyment of a buzz. Kurogane looked up from his tea to look at the stars again, since that was his main goal in coming up here.

Mel nodded, glancing off to the side. Maybe she should just...find another rooftop to mope on. Wait. Was she moping? Really? Originally, she'd planned to just run around in her dress, lookin' all pretty without any of her friends to see her and make fun of her for it. Now she was moping? What the hellassballs?
