Now that things had (more or less) returned to normal with everyone wearing their own faces and bodies, Jing wanted to get this council underway before the next thing struck. Especially since the next thing, for all they knew, would be the Keepers showing up on their doorstep. So he made an announcement on the messengers and asked everyone to ( Read more... )

Jing had been as good as his word. Robin looked around the auditorium with approval on his face -- it seemed that there were more residents interested in improving things than he'd guessed.

"I see you came as well," Quatre said. Not that he was overly surprised, really. In fact, he wouldn't be surprised if several people he knew showed up. "Mind if I sit next to you?"

"Of course!" Robin said, making room for Quatre with alarcity. It seemed like it had been a while since he'd talked to the younger of econtra's two Quatres. In fact not since the Ball -- the Ball Robin had been in such a hurry to leave. He winced at the memory.

"It's good to see you," he said, before Quatre could take his manner amiss. "Especially here. After what you told me about the situation in your world, I've got no doubt that your viewpoint will be useful."

Although privately thrilled that people were actually willing to use the "wait your turn" approach when asking questions, Jing gave Alema's question his full attention.

"The purpose of this council is more to organize than order," he said emphatically. "There's no one person or persons in charge of everyone else. This is so that people can put their efforts into one pool. We'll all get more out of it that way."

He looked sheepish for a moment. "We're not making a government here. I'm better at wrecking governments than making them. But even I admit that a little sense and order around here could be a welcome change."

Oh boy. Public speaking? So not Rumor's thing. That was reserved more for Spaceboy (but that's only if public speaking was synonymous with punching villains) or Violin who had more eloquence in her little finger than the rest of the team combined. Which wasn't saying a whole lot for the rest of the team, unfortunately.

Still. A Rumor had to do what a Rumor had to do. The hero hadn't even bothered to prepare a speech, preferring to go in by the seat of her pants, standing near the stage and waiting to be flagged up for her turn.

"Gonna make a speech there, Bird?" Sawyer called cheerfully from where he sat in the audience, feet propped up on the seat in front of him, arms folded across his chest, sarcastic expression on his face. Obviously he could care less about manners or interrupting the meeting. "Hell, this thing can't get any more boring, right?"

As cool as she thought Sawyer was, there was no way in hell she was going to take shit from him, especially not tonight. "Yeah, I am. You gonna shut up and listen or am I going to make you have to?" Rumor snapped, fidgeting with one of her gloves and resisting the urge to flip him the bird. She'd show him a bird alright.

After a moment's hesitation, the teen made her way onto the stage, heading straight for the podium and looking out at all of the people. That was a lot of people. Like, really. A lot. She cleared her throat, waiting -- not entirely sure for what, but it seemed appropriate. Build suspense.

Just to let everyone know that my schedule is going to be spotty -- inconvenient timezone + working tomorrow means that I hope you won't wait on Robin in any threads he's in -- just go on without him, assuming he's there please!
