Summary: Rose is caught up in exploring the compound. The park is one of the nicer places to start.

She'd gotten distracted the last time she'd set out to explore the compound. This time, Rose was determined to cover as much ground as she could. Not that there seemed to be terribly much, just a small collection of streets and buildings, and the park. Still, it was the principle of the thing. She was somewhere new, and damned if she was going to stay cooped up in one spot for long.
To that end, she wandered along through the park. It wasn't long before she abandoned the paths for the water's edge, drinking in the sights of trees and lake as she familiarized herself with the area. It felt less confining than the city-like spaces, an illusion, but a pleasant one. Less hopeless, too, green and alive rather than grey and worn down, though she had to admit that the signs of human repairs were heartening. People kept going. It was a nice thing to remember.
She shivered a little as a brisk breeze rustled through the trees and lifted her hair away from the back of her neck, rendering it slightly rumpled, if not hopelessly windblown. Hunching her shoulders instinctively, she burrowed her hands in the pockets of her jeans, fingers scraping over the still-unfamiliar shape of her PDA. That convenience still struck her as a little odd, and she wondered at the reason for it. Had there been hopes for some sort of archive, or was it just to mollify people, if only a little. She added it to the mental tally of questions to ask, which was slowly but surely expanding.
